Oh, I agree. My biggest problem is that some people around me kind of implanted that stress from an early age. I am so mad about that because literally, I would stress about the smallest things.

Hello! For the most post, I have personally experienced negative stress but I also believe that stress can be either negative or positive, depending on how you let it effect you. Some take stress and use it as a form of inspiration and perseverance which can turn into a great thing!

Positive stress would be a stressor that pushes you to do better such as the stressor of having a big test tomorrow and due to that stressor studying hard. The good part is because you studied hard you did well on the test.

The lack of forgiveness to your past might be a reason for the negative stress. I believe if you take some time to alter what is possible, it can ebentually add up to a positive outcome.

Yea, positive stress will mostly be mild stress, which has a positive impact either in the present or near future.

By all means, if stress can be a strong drive force to achieving goals. Our attitude towards the current stress sources can determine whether the stress becomes positive or negative.

Perhaps it's comparable to positive and negative fear of failure. Negative fear of failure cripples you and makes it so that you can't perform the task properly anymore (like stage fright), while positive fear of failure boosts your willingness to get to work. I definitely believe stress can have both positive and negative effects. It's all about that balance.

Yes, if we can channel stress in the correct way and prevent it from getting chronic, it can definitely play a huge role in developing our motivation and competitive spirit, as without a little stress muost people would loose their enthusiasm.

I think there are times when positive stress goes beyond mild stress, which is during the time of emergency. For example, suppose you are to escape from a fire, the stress which you will feel is definitely above the level you call mild stress.

Changing your perspective to things can be difficult but it should not be made into a cause of stress.

There are always two sides to everything. Same goes for stress. It can be negative and positive. Negative causes anxiety or panic attacks. But stressing over a right thing may lead to fruitful results. Hard work and little stress can provide long lasting rewards.

I have always thought that stress is bad for your health. The one word one thinks of when dealing with stress is “negative. This is not so . Positive stress actually helps you get through things and handle situations better. I learned this through reading some of this book - I am super excited to read through this whole book now that I read a few reviews.

I believe that a positive stressor is one that encourages a person to move forward and leaves them with a feeling of satisfaction. A negative stressor is something that cannot be escaped and puts unwanted pressure on a person. Often in life there are more negative than positive stressors and a person's system can respond to this by overreacting to things that don't present an immediate danger. Too much negative stress is bad for both body and mind.

Very true, but don't you find yourself stressed by positive things to an extent the stress becomes detrimental? I think such moments can be categorized as negative stress moments.

Indeed, Gustavo's work has been very helpful. I also didn't have a clear view of positive and negative stressors. But the practical guide has helped me learn a lot.
