In California, there are police officers who defend the supremacy of the white Aryan people and kill people to turn other races against each other. In South Africa, Anti-Apartheid groups clash with Pro-Apartheid organizations. Connecting those places is Ginger, a young and brave girl who just wanted to get a job and help her mother to move out of the dangerous place where they lived. But before being able to complete her plans, the criminal cops almost caught her. The situation got even worse when a gang framed her for a tentative of homicide. After that, she had to move to South Africa because of the program of Job Corps to serve time. But in that new country, she can find unexpected love and get involved in complicated situations.

Drive By is a fiction novel that focuses on the issues of racism and segregation. But it’s also a story of love, revenge, justice, forgiveness, and friendship. It’s unique and gripping, but it brings old and important themes too, such as discrimination and violence. The story has fast pacing, but the author doesn’t throw all the facts at once. The writer slowly completes the puzzle he constructed, making the reader curious to know what is going to happen next and what the characters have in mind.

My favorite aspect of this book was the author’s style. C. Yuseff Wells portrays the dialogues with realism, for example, adapting the language according to the person who is talking. The writer also makes the chapters dynamic with the technique of changing the perspective, which helps to understand each character’s motivation and personality.

What I disliked in this novel was the fact that the writer forgot about the character Dee-Dee. She has few appearances in the book, and I expected that she had more presence. Besides, this volume could do with another round of editing since I found over ten errors, being most of than grammatical and typographical.

Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It has an exceptional development, and the author has a compelling writing style. These factors make the story gripping and fascinating. However, the errors and the lack of development of one character made me lower my rating. I recommend this book for readers who are looking for a book with action, romance, adventures, and who don’t mind light erotic scenes with a few profanities. But I don’t recommend it for people sensitive to the themes of violence, racism, and segregation.

This one sounds like a soap opera. I will enjoy it as long as it possesses enough thrills. Good work!

Racism and segregation are still serious issues in today's world. I commend the author for writing on such topics. Great review!

Racism is a vice that contributes to violence in the society. It would be interesting to get an insight of how the author incorporates romance in the thick of racism. I enjoyed reading your review

I think that topics related to race, equality, justice and culture are very important today and I appreciate when the author knows how to incorporate these topics well in a book and convey an important message to the reader.

Racism in this novel can be compared to the recent killing of George Floyd. I can relate from your review the depiction of evil when it comes to security personnels.

It appears that the story is plot-driven, thats the only way it could be fast-paced without losing its taste. You have a convincing review, thank you.
