Pluma wrote: 22 Aug 2020, 19:47 Sounds like a great book; I like that the narrator’s voice is realistic and suits the story, and there was good characterisation and humour. The message the book tells is also relevant and important, and I applaud the author for addressing it. I think I might give this book a shot. Thanks for your great review!

I appreciate your perspective on this book. It appears that it is a dark subject, but you point out that there is humor as well. Great review I’m going to add this to my bookshelves.

I love the lesson that you mentioned. Encouraging girls to let their voices be heard especially when it comes to abuse. This is a great lesson that we should be teaching kids. Thank you for your detailed review of the book. I'd like to read this book to. :)

I like that the author utilizes the first-person perspective in telling the story. It seems that the author has excellently captured how a teenager would narrate.

I love books that talk about real life issues and how we can solve them. I love your review, Vic, I would definitely love to read this book. However, you lost me where you said "it encourages women and minors not to be silent when someone sexually abuses them" since I never heard of any of the characters being sexually abused in the review. I guess I will have t read to find out

Lafayette is only about 45 minutes away from where I grew up, so the dialect wouldn't be a problem for me. Reading this book is now almost a must, being that it takes place so close to home. I have to wonder what other places Olive and Henry will travel through that I might be familiar with. Thanks for the recommendation!
