We are Voulhire: Someone Else's End by Matthew Tysz is the third book of the We are Voulhire series. It is a dark fantasy novel written in the first and third person. The story is becoming more complex, as the war mercilessly spreads through Voulhire. Our main characters are mostly the same as in the previous part of the series. We are following Galen, his friends Demetrius and Rowan, king Willhelm, and powerful mage Meldorath. We meet a few new characters on the way, but none of them are crucial for the story. Meldorath is becoming more and more powerful and ready to make an impact on the world. King Willhelm is targeted by multiple rebels who are trying to usurp the throne. Galen and his friends are still on their journey of getting to know each other. They are presented with many obstacles, such as Rohavian bandits trying to kill them and wars breaking out around them. Nonetheless, they are pushing forward, trying to help where they can and survive.

This book is written a bit differently compared to prior parts. In the first two parts, only Galen's thoughts and actions were written in the first person, but now there are a few pages of Demetrius' insights written in the same manner. The confusing part is that these chapters are not named 'Demetrius' but 'Galen'. There is also an occasion that two chapters, one after another, are named the same. These things I disliked the most about the book. I think that fixing them would make the book much better.

There were some profanities but not as much as in the first book. There were also fewer sexual mentions and no graphic scenes. Even so, I don't think that this book is a good read for children. I would mainly recommend it to a mature audience. I think that it is suitable for people of any religious background because religion doesn't play a big role in it.

This book is the part of the We are Voulhire series that I disliked most. I found the language easy to understand but the story confusing. Wars were breaking out on every corner. Demons showed up out of nowhere. The storyline was random and had a little structure. I didn't find this part to be as engaging as the ones before. However, reading this shouldn’t make you think that the book is not good. It has many valuable characteristics, such as elaborate characters, witty conversations, and interesting scenes.

Editors did an excellent job. I found just a few errors. However, the second part of the series was great and made me expect more from this one. Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I want to read the fourth part in hope that it will be better. I felt that Galen's story was overly dynamic- he visited more than three cities in a short time. On the other hand, king Willhelm and Meldorath were static. Maybe a little more overall balance would do this book a great favor.

It's funny, I think I feel the exact opposite as you do; I thought the second book was random, and I started to see the endgame in this one. Anyway, thanks for the great review
