Review by Anngladys -- Happiness is All We Want!
Ashutosh Mishra’s Happiness is All We Want! is a book about how to be happy and maintain a happy state. This is to be done using the strategies and disciplines that the author recommends. He presents them as Smart Well-being Capsules (SWC) for the body, mind and soul. He has “Happiness Moment” and “Practical Tip” sections spread out in many areas across the book. These come in handy to show the reader how to apply what is being taught.
The author looks into mental, physical and spiritual well-being. This information is presented in 3 main parts and 16 chapters. The author, Ashutosh Mishra, goes into depth discussing each area in great detail. The author recommends meditation, exercise, healthy eating and good relationships as key ingredients of happiness. He gives examples from his own life and also shares the experiences of other people.
The author encourages the reader to focus first on happiness and well-being because those things lead to exponential wealth creation and super productivity at work. He encourages the reader to daily capture and value small moments of happiness, to set aside at least an hour a day exclusively for oneself and to express gratitude for what one already has while working to achieve more.
What stood out for me is the simplicity in which the author presents the information. He breaks it down into small steps and makes recommendations and helpful suggestions along the way.
I liked the annexures at the back of the book because it helps the reader to quickly find specific areas of interest. The list of references is also good because it presents the reader with additional resources for further study.
There is nothing that I did not like about the book.
This 239-page book has great well-written and well-organized content that is presented in an easy-to-read manner. Because of these things, I gladly give the book a rating of four out of four stars.
I would recommend this book to everyone who is in search of happiness. They will find it very resourceful and might even want to read it over and over again as they apply the lessons therein. I know I’ll be going back to it soon. However, it should be read with an open mind because some of the practices he mentions, such as yoga and reiki, may not sit well with everyone.
