In the aftermath of World War II, many countries, the USA included, made pacts with the devils of other nations in a bid to stop the spread of communism. The final result in Iran was not exactly what was expected, but it's what you get when you look away from what is happening on the ground. The heavy-handedness of the Shah is one such example. Although an ally of the USA, his brutality against his own people led to a revolution with results still reverberating today. The author's decision to use this time as backdrop to his story is quite commendable. Congratulations on being awarded BOTD.

Although I don't think this book is quite my cup of tea, you do make it sound super intriguing. I'm especially interested in how the main character handles having to choose between his family and his official duties. Thanks for this brilliant review!

The Pahlavi Sword by Jemil Metti sounds pretty good. I feel for Captain Jamsheed Al-Armaghani. Having to choose between your family and your official duties is a hard decision to make. The love I have for historical fiction can't allow me to skip this book. Congratulations to the author on the BOTD. Great review!

A very detailed review. Now that I see this book. I'm wondering whether some political forces are intentionally keeping stories from that part of the world a secret. This book gave me leeway to imagine what happened in the 90's.

What a great detained review, thank you. This sounds like quite a distressing read but full of education and knowledge of such harrowing times.

I felt the heaviness of the book while reading your review. I might not give this a chance though. I find this kind of genre difficult to digest. I'm into leisure reading after all. Great review though. Keep it up!

Although the tortue scenes included in this historical fiction are a deal breaker for me, I appreciate your interesting review.

I am passing on this #BOTD since I can't seem to understand the drive of one person to hurt another with a lack of empathy for life.

Up there we have a very detailed review. Thank you for that. I recently gained interest in the Middle eastern conflict. Although, the level of profanity and gruesome scenes described may keep me from the book but I'm sure it'll be worth a trial. I like how the writer reveals that evil is freely committed when the culprit hs no attachment to the victim. Jamsheed would have seen no fault in the system if his brother was not made a victim. The idea of family in the middle of conflict, chaos and attrocities will help ease the mind. Thanks once again.

A good mix of drama, action, and suspense in the novel "The Pahlavi Sword" by Jemil Metti, which depicts the replacement of the 2,500-year-old Persian monarchy of the Pahlavi dynasty with the Islamic Republic. The story focuses on Captain Jamsheed Al-Armaghani, whose job is interrogation and torture in Evin Prison in Iran. The book appears to be quite intriguing to me.

What an interesting read. I am sure I would enjoy this book. Wondering how you wrote a very good review of this book, considering the complexity of the message it is passing across.
