Dee and I are going to get somewhat matching tats. She's getting tweedle dum for me and I'm getting tweedle dee for her. but we're changing them a little to better resemble eachother. She hasn't decided where she's getting hers yet but I'm getting mine above my front left shoulder. Or as she took it "close to my heart."

My best friend and I got matching tats (her art...my tattoo artist...her first tat) It is special, getting them together! We made a whole day of it...shopping, brunch, a drink and a toast to our friendship :) It was great!

Fun looking at older posts, didn't know they had this topic. If you saw me in person you'd see a petite, ginger haired senior...usually in jeans and tshirts for my job...vast collection of beaded bracelets...but otherwise not too much alternative looking. The only visible tattoo is a delicate bracelet inspired by singer Janis Joplin many years ago...
Invisible is Thumper the bunny, one sleeping cat, one awake cat, a lotus, my husband's initials, oh and a portrait of my girl dog on my upper shoulder...next ones will be a cartoon of my boy dog and a Japanese beckoning cat...no one would ever guess

Interesting reading people's views on this. I have two tattoos, one on my hip and another on my wrist, and I'm planning a couple more. Personally, I would only get them in places that I could cover up if I want to - I know it's everyone's personal choice, but I know people who have tattoos on their faces, and I just think who would ever employ them?

Where did you all go that let you get tattoos while you're drunk? The place I went was so strict!

I got my tongue pierced, and I would definitely NOT recommend it! My tongue swelled up and I couldn't talk or eat properly for 2 weeks. It was awful. I tried to take it out, but I couldn't do it. Luckily it went down, and I love it now, but I'd never do anything like that again.

Oy that I was with my middle daughter for her tongue piercing...gahhhh, I went along for moral support but very happy with just 2 holes in each ear thank you...okay, secretly jealous of people trim enough for a belly ring
...then again best buddy said belly piercings are tricky to keep uninfected...???

I agree with the opinion though that necks, faces, hands, should not be tattooed. If you're a tattoo artist and/or successfully self employed, or your lifetime career will be in automotive work or contracting then you can have full body tats and party on...but anyone who ever features a professional job in the real world...you want to be able to cover them up

Reminds me of one more ghastly thing I saw one day-a guy who had initials branded into his shoulder...just OWWWW

I saw a guy in a San Diego tattoo parlor getting an eagle tattooed on his back. He was just about screaming with pain, it was about half done and the guy said thats it. Ive had enough. Somewhere in this world is a guy with half an eagle on his back.

I am afraid that would be me.
I would chicken out halfway through.
and branding is probably not for sissies either.

I don't like the look of tattoos all over or piercings in lips and eyebrows, but if you like them, get as many as you want.

I do think those people that have a whole row of earrings up the side of their ear is sort of cool looking, but I am too lazy to take care of anything like that, either.

As long as you aren't my 12 year old, you all have my permission to tat and brand and pierce away!

an amusing story- My most recent tattoo was the portrait of my girl AmStaff on my shoulder, fairly large, very detailed.
I already have quite a few so for distraction I brought a book of course. I was sitting there reading while the guy had some drum heavy metal music playing and was talking to his co-worker. Just then these two young men walk in. Young man 1 is all buff and whips off his shirt n' lays down. He wants his girl's name on his chest. The whole time he's yapping on his phone..."Huh? Uh yeah we at the tattoo place now, yeah babee it's gonna be fine yeah {{{BUZZ}}} AIEEEEEEE, yeah babee ah got to go, just chill it'll be cool"...

Meanwhile young man 2 is walking around, he see the picture of my girl and says" Is THAT YOUR DOG?.. damn"...followed by "Hey maan this lady is over here readin' a book"...
poor young man 1, hope he doesn't have half a name there...girlfriend be disappointed

I've talked to different artists though who say that women do have a way higher pain threshold. Not suprising, we give birth and usually survive...getting a tattoo? Piece of cake

I had that done, too... although I've had a baby now, so it doesn't look so good any more. ;) It was fine. I had my nose pierced and that swelled up a bit. Not exactly something you can hide, either!

Tattoos hurt, but not so much that you're thinking "Aghh I can't take it any more!" Although mine are quite small. The longest took 2 hours. I guess if I were getting a whole back tattoo it might be different! Loveabull, I'd take tattoo pain over labour pain any day ;)

I heard nowdays getting a tattoo is not as painful as it used to be. Ive got one of a leopard on one arm I got in Hong Kong and they used a bamboo needle. Hurt like crazy. I got one on my other arm I did myself, I was going to put all the places I had been to on my arm, but only got as far as Honolulu. That was enough pain and misery for me.
