singular or plural

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. You and I are the only obstacles standing in his way.

Shoul I consider plural because of two people(noun).
Or singular because of only.
Sorry if this seems silly question :oops2: :D :oops: .

If you said, "we", then you would use the singular.
