Harry Scott Anderson is a witty, intelligent, and experienced pilot who owns and runs a helicopter business. His family consists of his loyal dog Zorro and his dearest friend Ian Larson. He lives a relatively decent life, earning enough to ensure a comfortable and feels lucky to be doing what he loves as a career. However, things start taking a suspicious turn when a group of customers hires him for a location photoshoot. Harry, being ever observant and meticulous, starts to notice some oddities with the group. They did not fit the part for camera operators; their models were armatures, despite the expensive equipment they possessed, and the location for the shoot was too close to the Nuclear Research Facility.

Trusting his gut feeling, he contacts the Facility’s personnel and relays his suspicions and doubts. This information is especially alarming since days before, one of the assigned guards made a dangerous discovery within the premises. The Facility goes on high alert, and a task force is set up, with Harry being the newest recruit. He is to go undercover as the link between the government authorities and the photoshoot crew. To add on to Harry’s complications, he soon meets Erin and is love-struck, embarking on an elaborate mission to woo and court her. Erin is also full of mysteries revealing very little about her life or motives. Everything soon culminates to a race between the authorities and the suspicious crew, who will outsmart the other? What is the target? Moreover, who is Erin, and what is her end game?

The book has a catchy introduction that instantly hooks and captivates the reader. Manfred Leuthard vividly describes the various characters and sceneries so that it is easy to visualize each description and explanation. It is easy to perceive the differences between characters, what flying a helicopter entails, and the various nuclear weapons and technologies. This makes the book highly realistic and authentic, therefore, improving the reading experience. The character introduction is also in-depth and captivating, and Harry’s witty and bold nature brings in humor and sarcasm, making the read more enjoyable and fun.

What I love most about the book is how descriptive and intricate it is. For instance, the book highlights every step of operating a helicopter from pre-flight preparations to take off and finally landing. It is also pleasing to follow Harry’s developing relationship with Erin, his efforts such as the sophisticated meals he cooks, and his hopes for a steady relationship. I equally love the naming of the chapters; it provides a glimpse into what the chapter holds and what to expect. However, as much as I loved reading the book, I dislike its conclusion. I feel a lot is missing, and Erin’s fate is squeezed in, therefore, feeling inorganic. Additionally, Detective Christine Salazar’s story is incomplete and unclear.

The book is professionally edited; I found only four grammatical errors. The language employed is intelligible and precise with a few instances of profanities, but not distracting or offensive. There are no gruesome or sensitive scenes, making the book suitable for a wide range of readers. I did note that the book has too many and unnecessary blank pages. I recommend the author to reduce them as a sustainability and conservation measure. Broken Arrow is a fast-paced and elaborate novel that takes you through a world of technology, danger, death, meticulous planning, betrayal, and even romance. I, therefore, give it a rightful of 4 out of 4 stars and recommend it to lovers of crime, mystery, and action novels.

Harry must have felt uncomfortable to deal with the questionable customers on his own for him not to have kept his concerns to himself.

I like that the author's descriptions are are very realistic and allow the reader to visual what they are reading much easier. Pesonally I believe this will increase my overall reading experience. I am particularly interested in the development of Harry and Erin's relationship. Great review.
