It's interesting that Joey wants to make a career out of playing the trombone. It's not an instrument that gets a lot of solos, as far as I know. Regardless, this sounds like an intriguing book. Thanks for a great review!

It sounds like an interesting story. I wonder why Jr felt he had to marry the woman who loved him and have up the one he loved? I am interested that it is based on a true story as well

I'd like to read about Joey's unquenchable determination as he embarks on the road to performing with great musicians like Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash. Congratulations to the author on the BOTD.

I read the sample and greatly enjoyed it. I haven't been that pulled into a story since I read The Yearling. However, since the review makes it sound like the rest of the book is about romance issues, I may not be interested in reading more. :(

The story - overall - sounds to be really heartwarming and inspiring. And as real as the life itself. Certainly piqued my interest!

Thank you for such a thorough and inspired review :)

Music, love, pain, and sadness, yet he's still going with continuing strength. He keeps growing stronger even when his father abuses him emotionally. Most times emotional abuse will make you stronger than you look. Find a passion and pursue it because if it makes you happy nothing will stop you.

Usually, I'm stone-hearted when it comes to drama and tearful scenes, but this seems to edge a deeper kind of pain from others that I've read. Coming of age books had always been my favorite genre, as it depicts growth in the smallest of details given the wider timeframe. Thank you for your great review!

What a great take! Inspire of all negativity of his family that young boy managed to pursue his dream career. I recommend this book to teens who are still struggling to get to pursue their dreams against their parents' will. Nice review! Congrats BOTD!

In a typical pure fantasy, the bad is bad and the good is good. In reality, we understand that good and bad make up the total package. It's good to see that the writer has blended both in the characters. Music has more than tunes and melodies that flatter the hearing. It has the ability to reach deep within a person. Joey's journey will be an interesting one.
