Thanks a lot for stopping by. Enjoy reading!

Heidadel wrote: 06 Oct 2020, 05:00 It's unfortunate that the book does not have a strong female presence. However, it sounds like an amazing story with diverse themes, from magic to capitalism. Galen sounds like a well developed character who drives the plot of the book well. Thank you foran amazing review.
Some strong female characters are what this book really needs to make it a perfect one. I appreciate this comment. Thanks a lot.

You know, I don't think I've come across a single review of this book that the reviewer didn't enjoy it. That probably means I should absolutely try it. It's too bad, though, that it doesn't have any strong female characters. Thanks.

I liked your review and pretty much agreed with everything you said. Indeed, there wasn't much character development for the character we already knew from the first book, Galen did mostly nothing, but I absolutely adored the new ones we got to meet. I think Matthew Tysz was more in sync with his character in the Fires of Virko. I don't know how to describe it: they seemed alive. I could see and feel their actions, motives, and desires much more clearly. And of course, their loose morality and complexity are what I found refreshing in his writing. Most authors create a bad guy and a good guy, but people aren't like that, we all have the potential to be either, and that is what I saw in this book and loved it.

Voulhire: The Fires of Virko sounds like a great story. I would love to dig into the whole series. I sure hope the rest of the books have better female involvement.

This is exactly what I felt about the book. It annoyed me too the lack of female characters in the book. I hoping more female characters appear in the other books.

I just finished reviewing the first book in the series a few days ago, and I am now realising that I liked the world of Voulhire enough to read the other books in the series. I'll try to start reading this as soon as possible!
