I cannot imagine the struggles single moms go through. I applaud them for their perserverance, hardwork and independence. I would love to hear their stories. Their struggles, their achievements, their happy moments. Everything. I will definitely read this book.Thank you for the wonderful review.

I have just read the sample, but have added this to my list of books to read. Being a single mom by choice, I appreciate your words of how hard it is at times, for many different reasons, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Being a much older mom makes life interesting and "different" in other ways too. Thank you for a great review.

Reading the synopsis of the book got me excited to read the entire book. I am not a single mother but have lots of friends and family who are and I believe would appreciate "being seen". The part about being shunned by family and society is very true and so is the fact that they end up bearing most of the burden. The point about single mothers as a result of losing their spouse to mental health is something I'd never thought of and perhaps a group that many people don't acknowledge or assist. I am excited to read this book....I give the excerpt a 5*

I was a single Mom for eight years between my divorce (I divorced him) and when I met the wonderful man who is now my husband. I can't say that it was easy, but I do know that I cherish every moment I spent with my son with no-one's interference or anger, making that time seem 'less.' Not every solo Mom chooses that situation. I did. And I wouldn't change it for the world. Hearing the stories from fellow solo Mothers serves as a kind of vindication for me. Every last one of them had the courage to go it alone, even when they thought they couldn't. Kudos to the authors for telling their stories.

This story is very touching and and humorous and she was waiting for her dad. Poems are interesting too. They are the strongest moms giving them there all.

Great review! I like that the end of each chapter has a summarizing quote. This book sounds like something I would enjoy reading.

I like the titles of the chapters. Something like "good morning heartache" sounds like copywriting

Wow. Now THIS is a book I'd like to read. As a divorced mom who raised five kids--five kids who haven't even seen their father in over 10 years--I am sure I could relate to some of the stories in there and it would be quite affirming to read them. I'll check it out. Thanks for a well-written review that clearly describes the book. I liked how you gave examples of the chapter titles, too.
