When I started reading it was to escape my childhood. No specifics but it was needed. I started devouring every book I could get my hands on. It made me feel smarter, grew my vocabulary. Next thing I knew I wasn't just escaping, it also seemed everyone thought I was smarter. So I read more. One year in a smallish school when we were doing the accelerated reader program I earned almost a thousand of the points you can earn. More than three times anyone in the school. At the time it made me feel very proud and special. When people made fun of me I still felt superior in intellect and would use my vocabulary to verbally skewer them.
Now I read to relate better to people, to learn and find knowledge to share. Reading is important in my family. Both my children learned to read by four. I hope they learn all the ways reading can change you as well.

I love reading because:

It helps me escape my current situation and I get to immerse myself in a whole other world

Depending on the theme or sub-theme of the book, i get to learn something new about a topic that i would not otherwise deliberately try to learn or research on my own.

Sometimes I learn history in a fun way, and normally, I dislike history the way it's taught in school

I get to travel to different places and meet all sorts of people through the book while sitting or lying down reading a book.

These are just few reasons I love reading, there are so many more.

Truth is, even if all these didn't apply, I would still love to read.
I can't not read.

I've loved reading for as long as I can remember. If I could read more, faster, absorb more, I would! Reading gives you new information, new thoughts, and can take you to other places. The magic of reading is it also gives you another perspective. I cannot imagine someone who doesn't love to read.

I enjoy reading because it is a special type of escape from life. Any time that I have gone through something, reading has allowed me to feel okay. It transports me into another world where my thoughts & feelings are no longer most important, but into a world where I can feel someone else's emotions and live through them. Focusing on your own emotions can be exhausting and sometime's it helps to feel others'.

Another reason I enjoy reading is because I learn so much. I grew up in a conservative world and reading allowed me to branch away from that. The different ways of living life is what is most exciting to me!

I love reading because I wholeheartedly believe stories are what makes us humans. The stories we hear, the stories we tell, the stories we read, they connect us to something that is beyond time and our own lives. When you write, you are leaving traces of your world for the future. I remember this that, during a Philosophy class about loneliness, the professor said: "We don't fall in love with people. We fall in love with the world they carry with them." For each book I read, I fell in love with someone who I had never met and who doesn't know I exist. I think this is magic. I know, deep in my heart, that that's what makes me human.

Reading fascinates me because I use my own imagination to visualise author's writing and it also allows me to look at world through others perspective, which is so beautiful.

Well, the obvious reason would be for knowledge. It's kinda hard to explain why I love reading but I guess the thrill of discovering what's in another book is what keeps me reading. Just forgetting about everything and living in that fantasy, brings about a certain feeling of satisfaction.

Ever since I was a kid I remember that reading brought me into the book. It feels like I am apart of the story!

For me, reading is exploration, it's an escape from reality. But I also love reading because of how much I have learnt just from reading books, I feel like my knowledge has expanded and the reason why, is because of books.

I love reading because it is a welcome distraction on days where I feel really depressed. It is also a great procrastination technique for when I am meant to be doing my uni work but can't be bothered. I also just love reading because it relaxes me and I just enjoy getting into a good book, fiction or non fiction, and losing the world around me, especially in times like these.
