Over the decades, there has been constant scientific progress from one generation to another. The curious minds of the scientists are wondering and trying to explain different phenomena. While some, such as Karl Max, argue that religion and science can’t coexist, several other scientists, such as Isaac Newton, have acknowledged the existence of God. No Greater Faith than that of Science by Manuel Vergara is a non-fiction book that tries to appreciate the beauty and importance of both science and spirituality.

With only 106 pages, the author presents his arguments in six chapters. Each chapter deals with an independent subject. While there are traces of humor throughout the book, this book takes a very serious form and is meant to educate as opposed to discuss scientific ideas with the reader. While all these chapters are independent, they tend to discuss the similarities between science and religion. The author tries to prove that these two can coexist.

As mentioned earlier, this book is divided into 6 chapters. For the sake of this review, I’ll summarize the first two chapters. The first chapter, Introduction, encourages the readers to be curious and try to find explanations of everyday occurrences. Such things as why music, poetry, and the sight of the sunset tend to communicate with one’s soul. He also encourages everyone to use the readily available instruments to explain simple phenomena such as the reactions of different elements and the gravitational force. The second chapter, Evolution, explains pieces of evidence of evolution including the fossil records, comparative embryology, and genetics. It also argues that the theory of evolution and the creation theory do not conflict with each other.

This book proved to be very informative. For instance, most young people have always argued that they don’t believe in the existence of God because there is no scientific proof of His existence. Manuel, however, points out that several scientists acknowledged God’s existence. He also encourages everyone to keep an open mind and acknowledge that science can’t be used to explain everything, for instance, dreams. The author also includes pictures and several illustrations. These help explain his points better. Since I only found one grammatical error, this book was adequately edited.

The only thing that I disliked about this book was that the author included several complex scientific illustrations. Most of the time, these illustrations were unnecessary (such as Newton’s law of universal gravitation) and will only scare potential readers.

In conclusion, this is an excellent book to solve the conflict between science and religion that has, for years, dominated our society. I, therefore, rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to anyone who thinks that science and religion can’t coexist. Since most of the arguments contain fairly complex scientific terms, people without basic scientific knowledge may find it difficult to understand this book.

Why I love the book is the fact that the author accepts that there is God.
This is one book I will love to read and recommend to those die-hard critics who argue that there is no God.
I love this review. Thank you.

It is difficult to accept both science and religion, and understand that they both have their place. I applaud the author for making an effort to document their coexistence.

Great review! I don't believe that science and religion don't exist, I just tend to believe the science version more. Maybe it's because there is more proof on that end.

This is a good and balanced thought-provoking review that succeeds in emphasizing what the book holds: reconciliation between science and religion. I will appreciate how you summarize the different chapters and tell me the positive points of this book, including its illustrations; it has explained complex scientific terminology, which most books lack. So, your recommendation is very helpful for potential readers. Good!
