Have you ever seen a woman with a packet that says, "Open this end"? Men have to date women who can't read, or go without! :D

So true, dear Fran! I had a little bet with myself that you'd be the first to reply. And I won.

(Mind you, I rather thought that your reply would be: "If you're so worried about going without your cornflakes, then open the packet yourself, you lazy ejit!")

As a matter of interest what did you win?

I did have a seriouse relationship with someone who really disliked reading anything substancial. It was hard because I am the kind of person who really vents about a good or bad book I'm reading. I find great pleasure in pointing out the diferent significant turns in the plot and little parts added by the author that are both clever and sometimes hard to pick up on. I guess I could almost say that is why it didn't work out for us. I gave him a few books to read that I thought were his type but he was content on staying with his scary movie collection.
I am yet to share a relationship with someone who truely loves reading as I do. I look forward to fulfilling that 'first'.

I am currently dating a non-reader and while there are times where I find it a bit frustrating, for the most part it doesn't bother me. Other people have commented the same kind of thing, my guy likes sports and video games so when he does that, I read and it definitely works for us!

My wife and I are ten years and going strong. Her reading is pretty well limited to the newspaper.

I tried. It was superficial, and in the end I got bored of correcting their grammar constantly.

Yeah, i could.

My partner doesn't read but we have enough other things in common that it doesn't really matter, we both love gaming and that's what has brought us together. He lets me rant about books i've read to him though.

I am involved with a non-reader, he actually equates books with car magazines, this being one of the reasons for joining this online forum! Its great to be able to have an actual discussion about what I've read!

I tried to date someone who didn't read. It didn't work out too well. I'm not a big fan of tv, and that's all they wanted to do instead of reading. It was a strain from the start.

It's not a problem for me. My boyfriend doesn't read many books, he does read manga from time to time and on rarer occasion he reads one of his books. I tell him about my books and he tells me about the things he's interested in. As long as there are other things we are both interested in (and there are), it's not a problem. He always likes to hear what I'm reading or what the story is about. And I like to hear about the things he's interested in. We both have things we like to do that the other doesn't like as much, or that is a solitary activity (such as reading), but there are also plenty of things we like to do together. It's all good :).
