Okay so the first season of Shadowunters is amazing whereas the book series it was adapted from (Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments) had me eye rolling the whole time. I'm a big fan of that adaptation and it's not often I say an adaption is better than the original but in this case, it just is.

joriemae wrote:Maybe it's because of the fact that the book versions are more detailed than the movies. But there are also movies that are more interesting to watch than reading the book which it was based upon. Such is the case with the "Stardust" film, wherein I enjoyed its plot way more than of the book.
I haven't read the book, but I really enjoyed the movie! I think I might just skip the book on this one based on your comments

For me, "Love, Rosie" was a way better movie than book. The movie was more succinct and thought the story was adorable on screen. However, I had trouble getting through the book and the promise of watching the movie was the only reason I got through it, if I'm being honest.

Also, "The Vampire Diaries" show was pretty great while the novels made me roll my eyes. I stopped watching the show and reading the novels about a couple seasons/books but the show was definitely better, I think.
My weekend is all booked!

For the most part, I enjoy books more than the movie. However, this was not the case for me with Silver Linings Playbook. The book seemed too forced in some parts, but the movie seemed to do a great job portraying their characters.

I definitely prefer the television series of The Vampire Diaries over the book versions. I just prefer the series Elena over the book version of Elena.

To all the Boys I've Loved Before
the movie was way better than the book, but I could be biased because I don't like books in first person.
People who read are hiders. They hide who they are. People who hide don't always like who they are.

For me "The Vampire Diaries", "Twilight", "Pretty Little Liars" and "The 100" are some of the cases where even if I don't particularly enjoy them, I found the movie and tv adaptations to be way better than the books.
Well, it depends solely on your preferance!

But movies are sometimes better than the books since it's gives you a visual picture

One of my favorite examples of this is The Haunting of Hill House, both a Netflix TV show and gothic novel. I think it was a brilliant decision to make the book into a show, as it really opened the doors to what the audience was able to experience. Through a book, you have to be told everything that you need to know point-blank. Through the show, however, they were able to play with the element of suspense that horror relies on. Ghosts are hidden in the back of nearly every shot that you only see if you are looking for them. They also are able to play with jumps in time and parallel storylines in a way that you can't really get in literary form.

Because of short windows, sometimes the tv version leaves things outs. The books usually gives you everything.

Generally, I prefer reading books to watching their movie adaptations. However, I enjoyed watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Not because it was particularly better than the book per se but I enjoyed seeing the drama play out on screen.

Shawshank Redemption by Stephan King was better as a film than the original short story.

not sure how common that opinion is but I think the Lord of the Rings movies are better than the actual books. I dind't enjoy Tolkien's writing style and sometime he fokuses on very minor things for pages and pages and I thought it to be really tiring (not to mention the whole episode of Tom Bombadil which I didn't miss at all in the movies).
I don't know what I think about the Hobbit since the movies are so different from the actual (children's) book and do seem to me a bit excessive in their action-scenes and CGI usage...

After series. It made the book more lively. It was like providing life to a lifeless book. The scenes and emotions were good in the book and all but the movie was another level of satisfaction
