Most people believe that debts are final and there are no options other than struggle to pay them or ruin their credit by not paying. More Americans than ever are facing debt issues. According to Jorge P. Newbery, the author of "Debt-Cleanse: How to Settle Your Unaffordable Debts for Pennies on the Dollar (And Not Pay Some at All)", 43% of Americans spend more than they make, and 76% live paycheck to paycheck.
Mr. Newbery has learned through personal experience about debt collection. After a natural disaster affected his sizeable real estate holdings, Mr. Newbery lost everything and found himself over $26 million in debt with no way to pay it off. He learned that there's a better way to handle debts you can no longer afford to pay.
With the detailed information and strategies he outlines in his new book, you can legally work to wipe those debts off your credit report, get them out of your life and feel some relief. It is a resource manual that many will use for years to come to wipe out debt and get back on track to a debt-free future. He even shares his perspective on how to live debt free after the cleanse. He goes on to encourage the reader to share their own experiences and suggestions for the benefit of others.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars and the only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is that I was hoping there would be a dedicated tax section. What I most liked about this book is that the author comes across with a sense of humor and optimism despite extreme financial loss. As far as the book's audience, with millions of Americans experiencing income issues because of job loss, unemployment benefits ending or facing eviction due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, this book couldn't be more timely. The author has written an excellent piece of work and it appears to have been professionally edited.
