Ned is about to lose his pet dog and his home. Ned’s late uncle, Mr Finchley, willed him a house. Unfortunately, the will is missing. Terrance, the golden retriever, has accompanied Detective Solo to the Himalaya’s in search of a missing friend. Inca, the cat, realizes that this is an opportunity to make a name for herself as a detective. Can Inca solve the mystery of the lost will without Terrance’s help? Follow Inca on this journey as detailed in her diary.

Diary of a Snoopy Cat is a children’s book written by R.F. Kristi. The book highlights the importance of caring for one another in family and friendships. In this fifth book of the Inca cat series; R.F. Kristi continues to bring Inca and family as well as her pack of furry friends to life. The author has a keen love for animals and a fascination for cats. She intended the Inca book series for both young readers up to the age of 8 or 12; including animal lovers. The proceeds of the series go to animal rescue.

Inca’s family includes a sister - Cara, brother - Fromage, Mom – Missy who is their humanoid owner as well as a Hamster called Charlotte. Inca is a very ambitious Siberian cat. Cara is a Siamese cat and is rather prim and proper. Fromage, the tabby cat likes cheese and often gets into scrapes. This family of cats is close friends to a Russian cat named Monk as well as two dogs known as Terrance and Polo.

The book is 185 pages long. The story, narrated in the first person, is well written through the eyes of Inca the cat. It has a brief introduction in which Inca sets up the story by introducing her family and friends. Then it continues in the form of a diary. The book contains illustrations that are suitably expressive and whose cartoon style will engage the reader. One of the best things about the book is the way the author gets you to know the behaviour of cats. While humans keep cats as pets, the cats feel they own the humans. As a lover of cats, I found this to be amusingly true as it reminded me of the cats that I have kept.

What appealed to me about the book was how simple and descriptive it depicts the nature of cats. Moreover, the camaraderie of the cats and dogs was believable considering Inca’s confessions of having once had a poor outlook of dogs. Cats seem to be proud creatures. Even if you think that Inca is overconfident, you find yourself rooting for her all the way. The book made me feel that I should have picked it up sooner for review. Lastly, children learn to dream as well as pursue their dreams. The idea of good role models is vital, as seen in the case of Terrance and Inca.

This book is rated 4 out of 4 stars as it appears to be professionally edited. It contains no profanity or erotic scenes. I gladly recommend it to children and their parents as well as cat lovers. I think that anyone can read this book.

It's great that the proceeds of the series are being used for a good cause. I am not a cat lover, but Inca seems to be a good role model for children. Thanks for the detailed review.

The author did a wonderful job of bringing Inca the cat to life. I had some rough patches with following the story. Well written review.
