The fourth installment to the fantasy series, We are Voulhire: The Knights of Chalethire by Matthew Tysz begins a few weeks after finding themselves from one chaos after another which started from Virko to Soulhire and finally the downfall of Magnum Caelum.

Galen Bray, our ever-humble protagonist, together with his friends Rowan and Demetius found a home in Chalethire. In a few weeks, the three were able to adapt and cultivate their skills with the help of the community and therefore found themselves trusting the formidable Knights of Chalethire led by Harper Renard in hopes to save Virko from its demon-infested state. With her word, they scouted Virko to investigate. As it happened, Rowan was separated from the group and was left in Virko. Possessing a unique power, Demetrius needed guidance to use it to help save Rowan and ended up hurrying to the ambiguous Order of Joshua. Galen remained with the Chaletherian Knights to plan the rescue as the Knights take Virko for their own despite leaving Chalethire itself to the danger of the rebels, Riva Rohavi, while Rowan bids his time waiting in Virko using his wits and charisma to stay alive.

On the other hand, the new King of Voulhire had started his plans to weaken the Mianoran Knights while Meldorath began to establish himself as the Eodi. By the end of the book, we are once again witnesses to the shift in power of Voulhire.

The writing style had changed from the first two books where we now have an active group of main characters, therefore making them more involved than ever with the power players of Voulhire - even getting a name for themselves. We get to know more about Rowan and Demetrius as the story highlighted their individual moments in the book and the powerful bond of friendship they formed together with Galen. There was also a budding new relationship between Galen and Harper as a potential love interest and it was fun seeing the dynamic of the four of them whenever they interact. Every moment never failed to amuse.

Another thing that differs this book from the first installments would be the additional focus of growth for our main trio. Instead of the continuous drastic events from the standpoint of an observer, we have added action that doesn't result in despair but with victory and decisions from our trio that affect the overall story of Voulhire. It may be small but certainly something to look forward to with great anticipation as they get stronger, revealing more of themselves as the story progresses further.

The book contains violence & profanity so I would recommend it to those who can handle the graphic contents. It also has religious sects that definitely play a big role but all are fictional and wouldn't affect our existing beliefs. The book was professionally edited so I would rate it 4 out of 4 stars. Definitely a great read for fantasy readers!

Great review! Indeed I liked this book more than the previous ones. I believe this book had shown a new side to Demi, Rowan and Galen. I also like that Galen now seems to have an active role in saving Voulhire. He's becoming more and more like a hero.
People who read are hiders. They hide who they are. People who hide don't always like who they are.
