Review by Kibe_Ryan -- Cynthia and Dan
Cynthia and Dan: Cyber War, is an interesting romance thriller. The book is a standalone, and also the tenth installment in the McBride series. The story is about Cynthia, the senator’s head of security. To hide her cover, she posed as a part-time secretary in the office of the senator. She has a boyfriend named Dan whom she so much fell in love with. She and her brother, Glen, ran a private investigation organization. There main work was basically fighting against the terrorist’s attack in USA.
To aid the fight against terrorism, they hired two computer nerds out of college. Their skills played a huge role in defending their country. The computer programmers managed to tap and intercept the terrorist’s communication network. One day when Cynthia was heading to work, a mysterious drone landed at the white house lawn creating panic among the secret service. While Cynthia was on the verge of sourcing the problem, she collided with Sky and a spark of desire for each ignited. Cynthia was confused on how to handle both situations she was experiencing. This guy left her wondering about her love life. What will happen to her? Or is this person connected to what was happening?
The story is thrilling and engaging at the same time. It got me glued to the seat until I found it hard to leave any page unturned. The content quality is amazing with a flawlessly blended romance, action and cyber terrorism. What I found to be most interesting is the character development. The author went through a lot of trouble to develop relatable and adored characters. Their roles in the book were clearly evident due to the prominence of their end results. Cynthia had everything she needed. From the strategist to computers experts and her crucial part, that is, idea generation. It is what breaths live into the story and keep it alive.
The book has one turn off though, there are subjects about premarital sex, contraceptives, and abortion. All these are in the view of the Catholics hence the non-Catholics or readers of other doctrines might not agree with. It is not a total turn off because the Catholics are portrayed with utmost respect, especially the priest.
Apart from the thrills and suspense, I found the book interesting, entertaining, and also educating. There is an amazing balance between Cynthia’s personal life and her work life. I will give it a rating of 4 out of 4 stars because it was professionally edited as I found no grammatical or spelling errors. The characters were nicely weaved to fit the perfect plot of the story. I will recommend it to everyone who is intrigued by romance and national security stories. There a few erotic scenes and pregnancy related topics that makes it unsuitable to young readers.
