The fact that one loses energy when one uses magic makes it ironically seem a bit more real. Thanks for the review

"They must bring a baby born without any magical abilities to the Nation from the hostile Opar, where the dictatorship regimen of the Federation ruled by a cruel king is established." Will Lila Bakurets, Graute, and Battleaxe suceed in their mission? Congratulations on the BOTD.

Sounds like an interesting book. I like the concept of powers coming at a price. Thanks for your thorough review!

This sounds like it laid a solid foundation for the series. I hope you find the sequel to be equally as addicting but with a better ending!

This book sort of reminds me of Harry Potter with all the magic.

I am curious as to how a baby with no magic ability can cause catastrophe in a world of magic. I am not into fantasy though.

Although I don't normally check out fantasy books, the OBC review is very convincing. A fantasy novel with well-developed characters sounds like a book worth reading.

The sample was an intriguing start to this fantasy novel about a mirrored world. Readers of fantasy novels should find this an interesting story as they get to know the characters of Lila, Graute, and Battleaxe who will get to know one another as they navigate the world of Opar. Thanks for the review.

This isn't a preferred genre of mine, so I don't think I'll be reading the book. However, I did sample several pages and Ms. Tameen is most definitely a gifted writer. I'm certain that fans of magical realms will enjoy this novel. Congratulations on receiving BOTD honors!

I liked the concept of magic that comes at the expense of mage's energy. To cast a spell, Lila not only waves her wand but also loses her energy. In my opinion, it's a fair play.
That's more realistic than twitching your nose like Samantha or just extending your finger like Sabrina!
The other characters are also very well developed. They are not heroes, nor are they ideal, which is very appealing. It seems like Lila, Graute, and Battleaxe have nothing in common from the very beginning, but they learn how to get along and to start trusting each other. The development of their relationships was my most favorite aspect of this book.
I like complex characters, they're way easier to relate to.
It seems that, except for the ending, this is a great fantasy story. Thank you for your review!

This book seems to be the perfect mix of a crime novel and a fantasy story of magic and adventure. I cannot wait to dive into this book further.
