Have you ever wondered what would it be like if a devil and an angel fall in love with each other? Soul Seeker saves you the effort of imagination. From a well-constructed setting to exciting plot twists and action, the author Kaylin McFarren does a great job presenting the story from all angles to create a coherent and compelling fantasy novel.

The novel starts off with Crighton, the demon, who turns out to be Lucifer’s number one soul collector for him to feed on. The author depicts the evil doings of Crighton and the horror he reflects on the lives of the souls he collects. One of many unfortunate victims is Benjamin Poe, a normal man working as a firefighter, whose life will eternally change after his encounter with Crighton. Benjamin ends up committing the worst crime, which is killing his own son. He didn’t do that of his own will, but the will of Crighton, who possessed him beforehand.

It is only after this captivating and gloomy start that the main plot emerges, Crighton finds himself in a situation similar to the one he put many people in, locked and prohibited from freedom. Captured by a group of mysterious people who experiment on angels and demons, he was forced to share a concrete well with a being he notoriously fought against, an angel. Ariel, a young and pure being, and Crighton, a cursed mischievous being, will have no other choice but to set aside their existential conflicts and collaborate to escape their dire situation.

Their tribulation overcame their opposite nature. Ariel and Crighton slowly but surely bound together and romance emerges from chaos. With her immense elegance and beauty, Ariel softens the heart of the heartless demon, but his belonging and origins always remind him of his duties to his Grand Master, Lucifer. I liked this duality; it carries on the story from that point on, in an exciting and unpredictable manner.

McFarren is a supernatural Fantasy novel writer with a high level of expertise in this sub-genre, the way she describes the events is mind-catching, and how she relates between different plot parts is smooth and coherent. I liked how the two main characters are formed; they are humanized yet still retain their out worldly nature.

I slightly disliked the first part of the novel, not because it was not good, but because it took a little bit longer than it should for the main plot to take place. From then on, I enjoyed the novel quite a lot.

The book is professionally edited; no grammar mistakes were noted. The language and style used fit the novel's genre, but it has its fair share of profanity, and I didn't like that. I want to mention that sensitive readers must be cautious while reading because of the amount of horror and blood in the novel from the get-go. I highly recommend reading this book, and I rate it 4 out of 4 stars; it takes the readers away from the realm of reality into a realm that mixes both the real and unreal, making them wonder if those things take place or not.
