The Bloody book by Chris Bowen tells the story of a young boy named Maxx. The story starts in a classroom called reading hell. Where we get to understand how schools treat those who are not as academically on point, we get to look through Maxx’s eyes how kids were pushed to the side and looked down upon Threw out the story we learn about how life can get you down and how giving up can sometimes come so easily. One thing we encounter time and time again, In the story is how Max tries to feel numb, almost dissociate his feelings from himself as a protection, which most likely came from the years of verbal and physical abuse and neglect.

There are quite a few positive aspects from The Bloody book. This story has an amazing view of poverty and those less fortunate in life. The writing captivates you from the first few sentences and keeps you wanting more. The story gives you pretty good character back stories and has ways of making you reflect on your own life decisions. As Mr. Foxx likes to say, you need your F- You skills. Another positive is we get to observe what happens when trying to process guilt , hate , anger and loneliness . But we also get to recognize that no matter how much bad is out there, there is always someone on your side.

There’s not a lot to put into the negative aspects. If I had to say anything negative about this book, it would be perhaps that the time frames skip around a bit so I was not always sure if we were in the past or present. And the other downside has the ending it left me wanting more and sadly the book ended. I would have loved another 50, maybe 60 pages, a glimpse into what happens to Maxx.

This book is 4 out of 4 stars I cannot say this story was anything less than amazing .From start to finish, I was engaged and invested . This is a story that many should read and that many will love. There’s up’s and down’s but this book has not gotten enough credit for how it was written . I have been reading for years and this is one of the best stories I have read.

I would recommend this book to anyone middle grade and up there are topics in the story for more mature readers but with middle school topics I think that this would be an amazing and inspiring story and even to adults this story may hit home with many of us who were less gifted, less fortunate than most average students. Please, if you ever want an amazing read, pick upThe Bloody book.

The title sounds a bit too scary but catchy. I don't know if I can read something that has confusion in the timeframe. Thanks for the review.

Simply amazing!!! I throughly enjoyed this book as well. As I also was intrigued from the very beginning. I agree that I would ave love to have been able to read more , it was a short book and emotional but was to the point and had an unexpected ending.
