Well, I know little about Korean historical culture, and the influence of Japan over it, thus I think this is a good opportunity for me to find out. Thanks for the review, it has given me a hint of what to expect in the book I have to read.

I loved the premise of the story. I loved historical fiction and I want to follow Embon's journey into the revolution and how he had fought for freedom. I can't begin to imagine how much research has gone into this book. Congrats to the author on BOTD!

Everyone should go out and get this book, because if you think the review is good, then you need to get the book for yourself and find out in detail what is happening during the 20th century Japan. This is a well-written review of The Vanished and I do think it's BOTD worthy.

To understand better the history of Korea, one needs to pick up this book. To think the review alone delved critically into the premise of The Vanished, my interest has been piqued. Book of the day!

This is a thorough review of the look that well describes the major aspects of this book. Given that it is a historical fiction that centers around the Korea, I find it uniquely different.

This book is beyond just another story about a young man seeking freedom; it sounds like a comprehensive history lesson. I like that the author tells the story of Embon and Korea in a non-restrictive manner.

In stories like these, I'm always interested to know how women fared in more subjugated roles. Also, I hope readers won't be offended by the way Japan was villified in the story. Either way, this sounds like a book worth my time.
