I sampled a few pages and felt that the pace of the story was rather slow and I doubted it could've kept me interested until the very end. Korean history is nevertheless interesting! Thanks for your insightful review.
It's alright. That's what makes the world colorful; individual differences. Thanks for reading through.

Your review shows how historical fiction can help us relate to what we already know and learn more about the culture. I agree with your comments about the undeveloped characters. Will there be a sequel? Great review!
You're right. Thanks for reading.

The poor development of a few characters certainly seems to outweigh the numerous positives you've mentioned. This historical fiction seems like a worthy read. Thanks for writing such a wonderfully thorough review!

I am currently reading The Vanished, and thus far, I've enjoyed it a great deal. I also like the Korean terms added in the story and think it is overall beautifully written. Your review was interesting to read. Thanks!

Embon and his mother were very interesting characters. While I’m not deeply familiar with Korean culture and some of the antiquated practices of the era, I found all of the historical details to be quite fascinating in this book. I’m pleased to hear you enjoyed it too!
