It sounds like a story of a family that is affected by war. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of war novels but I think this novel is great for anyone who loves family mystery or drama.

Wars are devastating, whether fought on foreign or domestic soil, or within a family's household. It sounds as if this book covers conflict on each of these levels. Congratulations to the author on achieving BOTD honors!

Books on war are always interesting and give us a deeper insight on it’s ramifications. The author has a unique writing style based on the sample I read.

Review makes me curious why he told his wife his mother was dead. Also sparks interest about his sister

I don't enjoy historical fiction at all so I'll pass on this one. It sounds engaging for fans of historical novels though.

This book seems to have many beneficial lessons. I like that the author included past historical events in his story, like the Spanish Flu (since it fits with our current situation.) Thank you for your detailed review.

I love historical fiction, although I rarely pick books about wars because, with the exception of WWII, they rarely acknowledge that they're devastating. But this book seems to be different. Thank you for your amazing review!

A historical fiction in which the author explores the many ways in which wars impacted several generations of the Paine family. The family background and their experience of war is very informative and interesting. Definitely worth a read. Thank you for a well-written review.

This sounds like a really interesting book. The review does a great job of summarizing it, and I agree with the reviewer that the author's storytelling is compelling and moving. I enjoyed the first few pages I read on Amazon and will probably add it to my reading list to learn more about the consequences of war on its participants and their families.

I enjoy Historical fiction and I enjoyed the way the author used journals and letters to convey the story of the Paine family over several generations and how the various wars had affected their lives. Thanks for the insightful review.

Is there ever sound justification for war? The author includes some of his own life in the book ,which makes it more of a personal account of war too. The review reflects all the necessary information for a significant kindling of interest. Well done with an eloquent precis of the contents!

A nice historical fiction novel "The Wars Among The Paines" by John M. Millar, which revolves around the appalling ramifications of war and its effects to especially, Paines family. The book appears worth reading soon.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.
