Re: Has the God deceived us?
Understandng the complexities of how earth begun I think is far beyond man capabilities. Scientists have researched on this for many years with no conclusive results as how earth begun and when.

I didn't realize that. But the irony is how the world according to the Bible was created in 6 days and the author says it was created in 6000 years, there is a correlation. What I really wish was that the author shared his calculations.Sushan wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 12:00Seemingly this is not only the author's thought process. He has referred to many scholars in his book and showed how they calculated these time periods. He even specifically mentions that God has created everything in 6000 years, but has made it to see far old. If it is a misinterpretation, then whole a lot of scholars have to be wrong, which is quite unlikely63tty wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 07:29Yeah it is highly likely that the author misinterpreted or interpreted some of the Bible on his own and came to his own conclusions on the age of the world.Sushan wrote: ↑07 Mar 2021, 07:58
Yes, definitely we have to give some credit to the author for his extensive research regarding the subject and developing a compelling theory. But as most of the people believe, I too believe what science has said so far is true. Earth is few billions of years old, and even life on earth is few billions of years old. Maybe this author has misinterpreted some scriptures and come to the conclusion of this 6000 year concept. But apparently it has no value when we look at what we have gained through science

Secondly, the scientists are not wrong to say that it's been a long time since the creation of the world.

I'd say time is like beauty in that it's understanding comes from the eyes of the beholder. I find questioning whether not we were deceived by time to be an odd question, because our perception of it isn't necessarily perfect. Generations of people later, could think us nuts when looking back at our current ideas. The creation of the universe, happening in "days", is God's work of art. It simply is what it is. I would question what what God's perception of time is. Also, as all ancient things are subject to, I would ponder how the languages have changed over the years from various translations, some switching languages. And with changing languages, there are words that don't make perfect apple to apple comparisons, if they share any meaning at all. Some words in one language are just about beyond understanding in the words of another, if a native speaker can't explain the connotations to you. I say, when the environment that surrounds us is art that only changes with our perception of time, how can we be deceived by it or the artist that envisioned it?Sushan wrote: ↑02 Mar 2021, 12:04If the God was powerful enough to create the whole universe, how can He be not capable of making a rock look old, or fool the scientists by making the fossils age thousands of years? For the author's arguments and speculations to be true, either of these things should have happened; either God should have deceived us or the science has got all wrong. But if everything is God's doing, it brings us back to the conclusion that the God has deceived us. But why?Maddie Atkinson wrote: ↑02 Mar 2021, 10:16 I don't think this is true. I think that God caused the Big Bang and the events that followed were a part of His plan. You can make jeans look faded and old yes, but you cannot make rocks look old when really it is young. Just because you make something look old it doesn't mean it is old, you can usually tell by the wear in something what its age is. Fossils have been studied and the stone and literally be dated back millions of years, it's not just a guess, it's down to the composition. The universe is 14 billion years old and the earth 4.5 billion years old. Material found on Earth and in space proves that, for example, volcanic material. I don't think that God has deceived us, I don't think He has any reason to.

I completely agree that we can only speculate. Further, even with all the arguments presented in this book, they remain speculative.

The essence of this is that we can never fully understand His creation, no matter how hard we try because we can never reason as He does. We can only guess and make assumptions. So God has not deceived us; we just can never fully understand Him

I agree with you. Besides, we cannot pretend that science can be all knowing when simply we have yet to discover so much about our own universe and we do not have the technology needed to do so, or at least not to public knowledge.dianaterrado wrote: ↑04 Mar 2021, 00:53The author presented an intriguing idea and I think I'm going to have to disagree. It's definitely a new approach to the understanding of science and religion and God, but on this front, I'll just have to agree to disagree with the authorSushan wrote: ↑02 Mar 2021, 00:24 The author explains, quoting some of the historical scholars, that actually the earth is not old as the scientists claim. He suggests that the God has created it in several thousand years (a 'day' in God's creation is taken as a 'thousand years'), but has made it to look like billions of years old, with the old stones, fossils, rings on the tree trunks, etc. The author compares this with making a newly made Denim trousers to look old by fading its colour and ripping it.
Do you think this is true? If so, has the God deceived us? But why? On the other hand, has science got it all wrong despite hundreds of years of studies?God created a theoretical timeline of all of existence, starting from the Big Bang and spanning billions of years. In this theoretical timeline, stars were born and died, dinosaurs roamed the Earth, and different human-like creatures came and went. Then, at a very specific point in this timeline, God took a snapshot of the entire universe, exactly as it would look at that moment, and that’s what He created. In other words, God brought a world billions of years old into existence fewer than 6,000 years ago.
