This is a beautifully written review. Although the story isn’t something I would typically gravitate to, your review of it has me intrigued. I appreciate your honesty and thorough account of the book.

I enjoy historical fiction but this is so not one I'll like to read. Thanks for a honest review.

This looks like an interesting murder mystery. A fast-paced story set in ancient Egypt. I enjoy a book where the author displays his knowledge of the history and landscape of the area featured in the novel. I get what the reviewer means about the language, it does make a difference to historical fiction novel when the language fits the time period. It seems like this is an interesting book so I think I will check out the full copy. Excellent review.

You don't see many historical fiction novels that do an Egyptian time span. Normally, it is England, Scotland, etc. I think this would be a fascinating read. Great review.

I like how the story seems so similar to modern times, only a few thousands of years ago. Your review was engaging and detailed , thank you.

This is a fascinating story. The author has an engaging style that really grabs your attention. I loved your comments about the incongruity of the speech and look forward to reading more about Ahk-en-aten. Thanks!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting historical fiction about an Egyptian royal emissary who has lost a good friend when the old pharaoh died and found a struggle when the new pharaoh declared it forbidden to celebrate other gods besides Atem. For a religious family man and a high ranking employee, the main character is stuck in a tight spot. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

This is a fantastic review! Your eloquent description has me highly interested in reading the book. I’ve always been fascinated by Egyptian history, but I haven’t come across much historical fiction about Egypt. Even more rare is a historical mystery set in Egypt.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

The characterization of Akhenaten is pure art of fiction and it matches the real history of ancient Egyptian kings and it seems quite funny the religious reforms for a monotheistic religion.

A historical fiction novel that focuses on Egyptian history. It sets an interesting stage of religious reform that revolutionized life at the time. The plot seems well thought out and constructed. However, it is not my favorite genre.

I like historical fictional books because of the attempts that are made into recreating time and space of the then times. Thanks for the candid review.

I love historical fiction about ancient Egypt! I'm even more interested because the characters speak informally. Thank you for the review!
