How ironic that a doctor has written a book about healthcare and then discovers she herself has a rare form of cancer and suddenly becomes a patient. The few pages I read were well written and interesting. I would very much like to read the rest of the book.

This is a very personal topic for me right now in my life. I have recently been looking into the costs of health insurance, for the first time in over seven years, and I was shocked at the changes and those changes were not for the better. Everything has increased. I will definitely be reading this book for some helpful insight.

I like the basic idea this book intends to provide about healthcare that is to make better healthcare decisions, and to a greater extent, the author seems to have justified the ultimate goal of this concise guide.

This could be really useful for those who aren't very much knowledgeable about how the healthcare system works. The book covers a variety of subjects regarding it. This might not work for others, though, considering that each country has different systems.

The business of health care is a promising one with a lot of challenges. Trying to improve people's health conditions becomes a challenge when the care giver turns to a care receiver. This review said it all, and it's a good pointer to the essence of the book.

Such an important book, written with such a great intent - to help people make right healthcare decisions for themselves and their families. This book has a wealth of information about healthcare. Author has written from decades of experience of her own family as healthcare providers, and also her own personal experience as a cancer patient. An excellent informative guide. Wishing the author all the very best. Great job on the review!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting and informative book on how to advocate for yourself, what your health insurance options are, what the roles of different healthcare providers are and how it should affect your decision, and how to navigate the hospital admission process while keeping in mind the issues that might arise with your healthcare insurance, providers, etc. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

It so great for me to read. That was what I ever wanted in my dream for my country. I had heard about family doctor like this in foreign movies. But I hadn't experience about this because there had no such thing in here. I lived in worst country that's why.

I don't normally read self-help books of this type, but with one of my daughters moving away soon and the need to find her good healthcare where she's going, I took the plunge on this one. So far, it's been interesting reading though I was a bit disappointed that the only advice she gave about finding an FP was to find one who listens. Though true, I was hoping for something more practical. I think the advice about prescriptions was invaluable, though. Wonderful review, thanks!

This self-help book tells how to deal with the confusion of today's healthcare. How to be a self-advocate, how to choose a healthcare provider, and getting the most from your insurance, are among the topics covered. Congratulations to the author for writing this useful book chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your interesting review.

I see your emphasis on the words "comprehensive" and "concise" throughout the review.
Healthcare indeed is such a relevant concern and adding stories about the author growing up in her childhood home that served as one of two doctors' offices in town adds authenticity and charm to this work. I would love to read about the money-saving tips related to cost-comparison shopping that you have mentioned.
Thanks for a wonderfully written review of this great work!
