Victoria sounds like a determined woman! I love historical fiction novels, but anything about the Nazis disturbs me deep within! I find it very difficult to read the accounts of those who suffered at their hands. This sounds like a must-read for those who can handle the truth about the horrific things that happened during WWII. Thank you for the excellent review!

I have already read so many stories about the second world war (apart from hearing first person accounts from my family members) that I will give this book a miss. It sounds like a gripping story, though.

Victoria and Etta seem to share a deep connection that will keep them afloat during the difficult times they are forced to endure. It sounds like both women were treated horribly bad by Etta's family. I hope they can find a way to escape and live a better life. Thanks for the detailed review.

To learn about the sufferings of people during wars is always disheartening, but this book also encourages one to not give up in difficult times. Just reading your review makes me sad for Victoria and other women. Nice review!

This raises about what ‘wartime’ and ‘peacetime’ mean for women, and how violence.
Thanks for a good review!

Historical fiction is my favorite to read and I also like war stories. This sounds intense, I hope the violent scenes are not graphic. Thanks for your review.

This may not be an easy book to read because of the violence, but I believe it is one worthy of the effort. An historical novel that was inspired by actual events under the Nazi regime in Poland and Germany. I like the characters of Victoria and Etta, one a young polish woman and the other a German girl who is seen as a lesser individual by the Nazis due to her deafness. I like historical novels and as this one is based during WWII era it is of interest to me. Thank you for the comprehensive review on this novel.

This just makes me wonder how many people died in the wars with their stories and identities unknown. They're just a statistic to us, but for some they were the whole world. How many children suffered because of the greed for power. So heartbreaking. The only good thing I see is that Victoria and Etta found each other.

Victoria's War reminds us of the bitterness and horrors of war. This elaborate review reels out the realities of wartorn captives. Today's Gen-X rages at street protests, waging war with authorities and are fearlessly demanding to stage a nuke attack. This book must be prescribed to these high strung rebels, for them to realize how war could torch them to dust.

This book sounds both heartbreaking and eye-opening. I agree that being blind to the past does not erase it, so it is important to understand what happened in the past, no matter how brutal. Victoria sounds like a strong young woman, and this book sounds like a great read for anyone who wants to know about the social issues of German camps. Thanks for the review!

This historical fiction book that brings as one of its main themes the story of Polish Catholic Women in World War II seems to bring a lot of serious issues about human rights. Besides, it's inspired by a real story. Congrats on BOTD to the author! Thanks for the informative review!
