Review of Unchecked capitalism is killing us!
Earl Rynerson, former farm boy from Winchester, Kentucky appeals to the readers to not see his book Unchecked Capitalism is killing us! as one written by a socialist but to take it in the spirit that he wrote i.e. as an American. The author rejects the idea that others, especially the government, are acting in the interest of the common people and further highlights how corporate capitalism has been slowly depleting the standards of democracy in the nation. The author, who has been a democrat and a republican at different stages of his life and now identifies as an independent and very blatantly goes on to expose more than a dozen industries that have had undisguisable negative impacts on the society and further goes on to make the case that the problems faced by the good people of America ranging from obesity to access to health care are the result of unchecked and underregulated corporations, which in turn left the population more dangerously exposed to COVID-19.
I would describe the book as a well researched and equally well framed expostulation of the unchecked capitalist culture and the politicians that make it possible. The book makes a compelling case about how unrestrained corporate propaganda and the corruption that it leads to have had devastating impacts on the mental as well as physical well being of the American society. The authors approach to make sure that the validity of his word is unquestioned by adding the required references/proofs that increases his credibility and makes the book Immensely compelling.
The chapter that emphasizes the writers concerns about increasing obesity rates and his claim that the responsible party is the food industry, deliberately obscuring ingredients lists and running propagandas that target children is extraordinarily persuasive. COVID-19 resulted in excessive number of sorrowful deaths, and the author, in these trying times, brings to focus, the negative consequences of capitalism and lobbying in Washington DC. Matters of immense importance including capitalism, socialism, industry and their dysfunctional nature has been brought to light in a way that wins the readers approval.
I give the book 4 out of 4 stars The author has made sure to leave nothing out in the 400+ well written and informative pages. The writing style is simple and easy to understand and keeps the reader captivated through the information and intelligence rich pages.
The book comes highly recommended to individuals looking to understand the devastating effects of unchecked capitalism and the resultant corruption in America.
