I think the writer has done a good job by incorporating details about American History and historic leaders side-by-side with an exposition on the levels of racism through the years.

It sounds like historical fiction as there are many historical events like racial discrimination and the slavery trade explained brilliantly.

While this subject is very important, I have followed the news so closely over the past year that I am burnt out on anything related to covid or Trump. I hope to revisit this at a later date. Thanks for a well-written review!

The author captures the typical era and instances of racism throughout America's history leading up to even current times. This was refreshing whilst still staying true to the subject of being angry at witnessing racism. She also didn't dwell on slavery but included interesting details about the presidents and other influential people, so to speak. Makes for an interesting read throughout.

I know for a fact that this is a great book. It touches on some very sensitive subjects in American society and even in America's history. It is a good read.

I didn't know this was a novel. I thought it was a biography. Anyways, the way the story was written reminded me of Forrest Gump. His life was narrated reflecting the current situation or administration at the mentioned time or year in the story. About the T®um p part of the book, I must say it might be important in the story as the intention of it is to tell American politics or history. Like we can't pretend he wasn't the president of the last admin. But some readers may have issues with it. If not they got tired of hearing his name, they don't want to give him the clout he doesn't deserve.

Your review is concise and informative. Racism is a touchy topic for me and I would not want to read this. However, I think it's a well written book and one would gain lots of insights from it.

I for one love books that are non fiction, autobiographical and lets you dive into the history of your country. This review is so well written, and prepares you in advance about what to expect.I usually pick books more on the basis of the review than the synopsis itself. Because I like to hear someone else's persecptive on the book. It allows me to have an open mind when reading it. I will definitely be going ahead with this book after reading this review.

I think it's important to have more minority voices being heard, and this book seems to be a great contributing factor. However, like many have mentioned, I think it would be good for a more personal touch to come through in the book. Thanks for the review.

I love every part of this incredible piece of work. What marvels me the most about this work is how it historically discusses most global problems, starting from racism down to COVID-19. I can get a fill of this book. Besides, thanks for this outstanding review.

A novel "that shines more light on the history of America and its role in slavery and racism" is definitely a great read for lovers of history of America. I like it that the book also discusses some current issues like COVID-19 and even the 2020 American Election. Not my favorite, though. Otherwise, congrats on the BOTD.
