How do you choose what books to read over the summer?

- Do you participate in a library's challenge?
- Have a bingo card to follow?
- Do you take part in summer reading groups?
- Or do you just go on a whim and choose whatever book is on your mind?

As a teacher, I read a lot more in the summer than in the school year. I like to reach more lighthearted books, as I go through them very quickly. I am in a casual monthly book club with some friends and we pick trending books to read.

Surprising when it comes to summer reading I do it all.
I join my library reading club and they also have a challenge where you get points for the books you read for a draw prize.
I find online different monthly bingo reading cards to challenge my own personal reading preferences.
The reading groups are with my friends where we each choose a book that we read and pass it to one another so that we can all discuss and learn about each other’s favourites.
Then I also just go into a book store, library etc and pick a random book and just read it. I usually do this, when at the checkout and grab the book that they have on special or has a recommendation on it.
But the best is going to my read pile and picking a book that I haven’t gotten to yet and being able to cross it off the list.

When I choose what to read in the summer depends on my mood for the day. I try to read a book a day, so something small and easy that encourages me to continually pick it back up after completing tasks at home is what I shoot for. Sometimes the good ol' Book of the Day is all I need to enjoy a good short novel. My biggest interests are non-fiction, romance, and sci-fi novels. I haven't used a bingo card to help choose books before but what a curious method to choose!

So considering the fact that birthday is in the summer, my preference is usually self help books. I try to get books that can help me improve on myself. It's always nice to set new resolutions during that period even though I end up not following through on most of them, like most people.

My favorite summer books are what would be a light read at the pool. Then again, it also depends on my mood. Sometimes I want a good fantasy read. Sometimes it is mystery. Or, and I am not ashamed to admit this, it is just because the cover of the book looks interesting.
