Exploring Central America with nine travel writers seems like a rich resource of diverse perspectives.  Congratulations on Book of the Day!

I've never heard of a book focused on travel writers, that sounds so interesting. I'm sure it's not only entertaining but also educational for anyone who wants to be a travel writer. Great review!

Today's BOTD is a novel that takes readers on a trip alongside nine travel writers as they explore and experience the beauty, culture, and dangers of Central America, while also learning about each area's political and social history. The characters are memorable and the storyline will keep you turning pages. Thank you so much! Your review was very helpful, and I have downloaded my copy! :-)

This book gives you the feeling of being there with all those travellers and it feels like a first hand experience which I enjoyed the most personally. It's really fascinating.

Other cultures fascinate me, and I try to read about them as much as I can. Even though I have no interest in traveling to Central America any time soon, I appreciate the opportunity to learn about the people and culture.

Thanks for your review. I wonder, since this is fiction but has plenty of parallels to real situations in Central America, how much the author engages with the topic of U.S. interference in the politics of the region? You mention that there’s a character who educates the others, but especially as a group of foreign travel writers coming into a place stereotyped as dangerous, does that character confront the history of other foreigners coming in and increasing the area’s instability in the process, or does the character tell an incomplete history where foreigners are blameless? Either way, the answer would have interesting implications for how the reader is led to understand what happens to the group of travel writers later in the novel.

A very much fascinating story about a group of nine travel writers is nicely presented in the book "Death in Central America" by Jack L Hafferkamp. The writers went for a trip to Central America together in 1993. I feel the discussion between the writers is amazing to read.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Given the story, I have to admit that the cover doesn't suggest anything like a novel of suspense, but rather a non-fiction look at native Central Americans. I'm going to skip this although the book does get off to a nice start, setting the scene for horrible things to come. Congratulations to the author on his accomplishment and I wish him good fortune in finding an appreciative reading audience.

I’m sure there are many adventurous and nerve wracking moments experienced by the writers in Central America that are documented in this book. It’s a great idea for a group of writers of different abilities to work and travel together. Thanks for a great review.
