Review of Kaylie's Forgotten Birthday- children's book
Kaylie is excited when her mom comes into her room to perform what has become a ritual of waking her up with tickles to her feet. She is even more excited today because it’s her birthday. However, there seems to be a problem. Mom doesn’t seem to remember that today is Kaylie's birthday. Kaylie hopes it’s only a ploy for a surprise birthday treat.
As the day progresses, she becomes sad that no one has wished her a happy birthday, including her father. Even when she gets to school, no one has told her "happy birthday," not even her best friend or class teacher. Everyone seems to have forgotten, but she still hopes that a birthday surprise awaits her at home when she returns from school. Has everyone forgotten Kaylie’s birthday for real? Is there any birthday surprise awaiting her at home? Find out the answers to the questions in this children’s book called Kaylie’s Forgotten Birthday by Kimberly Shelton-Porter.
There are certain things I like about this edition that makes it a good choice for its intended audience. First, the book’s length is quite short. I don’t think children have a long reading span, so this 27-page publication is just right for them in that regard. Also, I like what the story is about. Birthdays are an important part of every youngster’s life, and they would find it to be an interesting topic. Additionally, I appreciated that the author included some form of suspense in the story, and children would be eager to know what happened at the end as a result.
The aspect of this book I enjoyed the most is the unique and colorful illustrations that are scattered throughout the book. I think every child's attention is easily piqued when they see pictures; therefore, their reading span can be maintained for a longer time thanks to the drawings. While I read, the pictures not only made me follow the story better but also made me refreshed. Furthermore, teachers would be able to use this book to teach children about colors. In truth, this is a good book, and I enjoyed reading it. Needless to say, the novel is exceptionally edited since I found no errors throughout the text. However, this book isn’t without blemishes.
One thing I didn’t quite like in the book is that I didn’t learn anything from the publication in terms of morals. I think it is not only important for children to have fun while reading a book, but they must also learn valuable lessons through the books that read. As a result, I think it is right for me to remove one star to rate Kaylie’s Forgotten Birthday 3 out of 4 stars. Parents and teachers of kids between four and eight that are looking to purchase a fun read for their kids should consider this book as a great choice; I recommend it to them. If you’re looking to impart some kind of moral lesson to your child through books, you may want to look away from this one.

I must say this: I would hate to be awaken like that, with tickles to my feet

I agree with you about moral lessons being an integral part of children's books.
Lovely review.
