Becky seems like a strong woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. It sounds like an entertaining read! I appreciate the excellent and honest review!

Thank you for the review. This book sounds inspirational to people who want to go into the medical field. I know medical school definitely has me feeling like I will never grow in the relationship aspect of my life.

Very nicely written review! I'm not usually interested in romance novels, but this storyline does look intriguing. What I read from the sample reading was interesting and did grab my attention so I may give the rest of the book a go. Thank you for the review!

It's messed up that women decades ago were given limited rights or no real rights at all that they had to depend on the men they'd marry. Although we are already in the time where women are empowered and celebrated, the misogynistic and patriarchal culture is still around and it's kinda scary that it is promoted through social or mass media, and there are actually people, may or may not, being paid to promote it. I hope there are more books highlighting the timeline of the fight for women's rights, and or like reflection of what the world used to be like decades ago, making readers realize how scary it is to go back specially for women or minority groups like POCs. Like this book which is about this woman who did some unimaginable things despite being a woman to reach her goals.

I like books with surprising twists and from this review it seems this book missed the mark. I will say that this is the type of book that I will enjoy because of it's romantic component. Congrats on being BOTD!

Not the Same Water by Karen Black sounds a pretty cool trip down memory lane, thanks to Karen for giving us a glimpse at the most evenful.Historical romance novel lovers , as well as anyone who just loves reading like my husband ,won't be disappointed taking this trip.Poor Becky very determined to realise her career despite the inherent bottlenecks.I am most captivated and motivated by women of her character, keep me going in todays' struggles.Sad how finding and lasting in true love has from back in time been a luckyshot. Thanks for your time ,love ,care & honesty in reviewing Karen's good work.

I do not like romance. It is too sweet and common for me both in fairy tales and real life. And the review confirmed that the romance is predictable. This is perhaps what I am unconsciously thinking. But this is what I mindlessly say in public only! If the story would be able to capture the profoundness of the emotions, I would be foolish enough to contradict my public declaration. How would it turn out? Well, whether the main male character would still be alive or another love chapter would be started would still be common and predictable. But perhaps absorbing. And still nice! Anyway, there are other angles. I also like that stories include or are based on factual background on History and events. Ah! I learned another witty insight from reading the introduction of the book in addition to the review. "The reader should decide what is fiction or not in the story". The author is already making a nice decent escape. He is right!

I do love historical novels. I am fascinated to see how the writer intertwined both fact and fiction to make the story. Great review.

Even though historical romance novels are not my kind of read. I do love Becky's story and her bravery - going on a daring trip and venturing into a career of her dreams against all odds. Congratulations on the BOTD.

Glimpse of history with romantic twist. To add up all a carrier oriented women fighting to achieve her goals is indeed inspiring in a way to all.

Historical fictions are my kinda tale; I love this genre. I am, however, a bit scared of the said shortcomings in this narration. Still, I think it is worth the trouble. Thanks for the informative review and congrats to the author for the BOTD honours.
