Tinman is a suspense-filled thriller written by Karen Black and Matt Walton. Gregory McGregor is a geotechnical engineer whose ordinary life is suddenly thrust into the fast lane when he receives a call from his mentor and friend, Charley, requesting for a Meetup in California. Just before flying out to the meeting, his front door is blown up by a bomb that kills his dog and he has to sneak out the back and reschedule his meeting with Charley to Denver, Upon his arrival in Denver, Greg is confronted by a scene which leaves him very disturbed. Charley is murdered in front of his very own eyes by alleged thugs. The murder of his friend and the bombing at his home open up a can of worms for Gregory to unravel.

Greg teams up with Corky, who babysat Charley's Aspen home when he was away and another friend, Hennie, to unravel the mystery of Charley's untimely death and how it's connected to the threats on their lives which they have separately managed to evade. Through the streets of Los Angeles to the chilly peaks of Alaska and back to Minnesota, The author takes us through what it takes for large corporations like TINMAN INC to win contracts involving huge projects that also happen to have a considerable impact on the natural environment. How is TINMAN INC, Ecofreaks, Greg, Corky and Hennie tied all together into this?.

The solid action-packed plot and the flow of the narration is so engaging that the book is hard to put down once started. From the beginning, one is gripped by the building urgency of the plot which gets increasingly dangerous as it unravel. The author's excellent choice of characters and their well defined roles enable the reader to understand their usefulness and contribution towards the very satisfying end of the novel. I definitely fell in love with the way everything turned out eventually.

Negatively, I have very little or nothing to say. The book is edited very well and the presence of very few grammatical and typographical errors is a testament to this. The language and the general prose of the book is also excellent. Apart from often repeating some basic facts about the characters that were well established at their introduction into the story, which I found rather disorienting sometimes, the book ranks among my best reads.

That being said, I have no choice but to rate this excellent work 4 out of 4 stars due to the great reading experience I have had and also the great editorial work done. I will definitely be recommending the book to my friends and also anyone else out there interested in solving complex mysteries involving murder.

Action filled books are my cup of tea. Especially when there are many different countries involved. Thanks for the review.
