Review of Fish Wielder
[Following is a volunteer review of "Fish Wielder" by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison.]
Thoral Mighty Fist, the OCD-induced barbarian who forgets simple words. Bradfast, the orange koi fish afraid of drowning. Warlordhorse, the black steed capable of making better decisions than anyone else. And Nalweegie, the elvish love interest whose name translates to the Evening Snack?
When one villain after the other leads Thoral and his crew onto the venture to defeat the Bad Religion, all they have on their side is an all-powerful chocolate(?) pudding. The real question is, how much gore will it take to reach the ending?
Jim Hardison's Fish Wielder is a humorous tale of adventure, spilled innards, and near-death experiences. Every character is full of self-induced ironies. Even the villains are more absurd than they are menacing. Jim Hardison has successfully awakened my curiosity, how his creations would look if drawn on paper, like "its battle-scarred bulk, its iridescent fuchsia scales shimmering. Then it raised its piggish nose and smelled the air. Its distinctive purple-and-teal-feathered crest" or "the creature standing on the stairs just above him was very large, with the body of a giant blond gorilla and elephant trunks for arms. Its face was so high up it was hidden in shadows.", etc. One would presume that if humor and adventure are the strong points, the story must be lacking, which is false. The plotline seems to be another sturdy aspect that keeps the reader hooked. This parody is probably one of the best books I've read in a long time. With a sword named Blurmflard and fifty other things (like Nalweegie, Narthkrykyn, Krandarthnak, etc.) that I cannot pronounce if my life was at stake, Fish Wielder slashes through my heart, unlike anything I've ever read. I find no flaw in The Emperor of the Bracelet (Book1) Trilogy Series. Fish Wielder probably teases the critics to no extent, like a nightmare.
With no hesitation, this book deserves 4 out of 4 stars. There're adventures, there's some romance, and there's Brad, my favorite fish in the whole world. It would have been a perfect book for everyone if not for the blood and gore, so let's keep this book on a higher shelf away from the kids' reach.
This one would be a good read for days when everything seems a little dull because enough blood-shed mixed with humor can distract even the saddest of people. If you are up for a "Lord of the Rings" and "Fantastic Beasts" parody, this book is the endgame.

I am currently reading this book, and whoever has written this book is a genius. The storyline is so well-thought and designed that it completely immerses you in the "Grome" world. The humor is so amusing that I had to force myself to leave this book and go to sleep yesterday. This book deserves nothing less than 4 stars.
