As a Christian, I find this book to be a journey and a blessing to me. Everyday, we struggle with material things leaving behind the things that are more important in life.
Amora , seems like the girls that has everything but lacks the important thing that is JESUS.
Seeing the battle between choice of religion in the roman era seems fascinating and God revealing Himself to a high class Roman girl is soo touching .

This book is a must-read for me because I want to find out how Amora is going to choose between vengeance and forgiveness for someone who murders and abuses her child.

Justin's character, who prays for the forgiveness of executors who executed a Christian group, fascinates me as well. This is a well-written book review that emphasizes the book's message on forgiveness.

I've read a couple of books set in time of the Roman Empire, and I loved them, so I'm strongly rooting for this book. I also like its plot.
Great review.

I'm a huge fan of historical fiction, plus I love women empowerment. It's a great addition that this is a story of faith. I'm reviving my Christianity and reading too, I was on a slump for a long time. So I hope this would be a great help. Thanks

Amora is faced with difficult choices, it would not be easy to forgive your child's killer. The plot seems interesting. Thanks.

I must say, I was predisposed to read this story for I’m a great fan of the Roman Empire era. But what you write, ‘Hallstrom expertly paints brilliant pictures of events that happened in that era, perfectly capturing the way Christians were perceived...’ I’m definitely going to enjoy it.

Thanks for the great review. In this book, the author reminds us all, of an important universal truth: Forgiveness brings healing while hatred consumes and destroys.

Interesting story. To choose between vengeance and forgiveness is really hard especially if this is for the sake of your family, but choosing the right is the best.
Reading is a journey to the world.

Amora's marriage is on the rocks when her daughter is murdered. Her recent conversion to Christianity also pauses a challenge because she's torn between seeking vengeance and forgiving the killer.

Forgiving is mandatory among Catholics, I heard a priest say. I believe it could be done for venial sins, petty crimes, and conflict. But for mortal sins, this holy trait is of the highest wonder but a conflict and dilemma for mere human beings. Alas, at this moment, I do not know if I would like to learn, discuss, or even take a glimpse of how could it be done. Apologies. But as an observer, I think a lot would be taken away from the emotions in the story. I also would love the theology cited in the review-the reasons that bad things happen to good people and the greater purpose of difficult times. Additionally, I would love both the Roman and Christian setting and History.

I think apart from it being about rome and historical background, That difficult dilemma of forgiveness and revenge is something we face everyday, surely the intensity differs. Some decisions change our entire life, I'm intrigued to read what did she choose.
