This book seems very interesting. However, I’m not a fan of fictions relating to war and espionage so I would pass on this. Amazing review.

I like that the book maintains authenticity by having characters speak Spanish or German, but kudos to the author for also providing an English translation alongside for those of us who don't speak those languages. This seems like a really interesting and insightful book into a very painful part of human history. Thanks for the great review!

Thank you for sharing your review with us. I’m not currently interested in reading about the Second World War, so I think I will pass on this book, but I will definitely recommend it to my friends that are interested in this topic.

There are many forgotten heroes of WWII. I read the official review and then read the sample and while they both were about WWII and the development of U.S. Intelligence, I realized I would need to read the entire book to synch up with the official review. The sample was too wordy but a good story and I learned facts about WWII that I had never heard before. Good book and good review. I did not mind the bias towards the British and being German I could not understand why many Americans with German heritage would have sided with Germany.

Your review followed the standard structure of an OBC review, which I like. The bias towards the British that JKO mentioned might cause some Germans to steer away from the novel. But it might also entice them and make them want to know how this may affect the reader's perspective of Germans. Congratulations to the author for BOTD!

Indeed, the WWII story is a thriller for me as it takes us into a real life action that the fate of man could not avoid at the time. Every part of the story is fascinating. When the Germans invaded Poland and in response, Great Britain and France declared war on Germany and in the response to the declaration, Italy declared war on Britain and France, that was an interesting scene to picture all these nations pick sides and stood for what they believed.
I actually have had time to read some WWII related stories in the past and it was a joy to see that those stories written in those other books converge with the ones written in this book. What the likes of Harman and Karina did was something only people with true patriotism and skill could ever do, even if the American politics was standing in the way of any involvement of America in the war.
Britain stood steadfast in the war even though it was not certain if they could survive or win as they were left all alone in the war with little or no help, as they were the last standing opposition nation against Hitler.
