Splitting up without falling to pieces is written by Jan Kaa Kristensen. The book seeks to be a guide to couples who are going through a divorce or is divorced and needs to find a way to cope with this change. With this life changing experience each individual involved will go through physical, emotional and psychological trauma which will impact how the deal with their everyday routine. The book therefore speaks about taking care of one’s self, how to support the children who are involved and also how to build new relationships. Children are often the ones more affected during a divorce and therefore this book highlights key areas of concern that should be addressed such as emotional support and counseling to provide better understanding to the children.

The Positive aspects of the book Splitting up without falling to pieces is that it is geared towards assisting divorce parents to work cohesively for the benefit of the children so that they will be able to cope during this emotional life change and also for each parent to rebuild themselves as individuals and overcome the challenges . The author Jan Kaa Kristensen also provides questions at the end of each chapter so that persons can pause and do their reflection or self evaluation. The book also provides great advice on how to deal with conflicts during the divorce and how to get help and support. It was also inspiring that there were real life experiences outline in the book from divorce couples.

Overall the book was very detailed and covered all aspects that divorced parents and their children may go through and how to cope, therefore there were no negative aspects highlighted.

I would rate the book Splitting up without falling to pieces as 4 out of 4, mainly because it is reader friendly where any individual can take the book and read it with ease and understand what it speaks about. The book was very well edited and formatted sequentially to meet all aspects as a guide to divorce parents.

The book Splitting up without falling to pieces is recommended for couples who are separated, going through a divorce or are divorced parents. It can also be recommended to persons who are interested in becoming marriage counselors or psychologist, who wants to further their knowledge on the whole matter of divorce and how to overcome the various challenges or circumstances that may be faced.
