Fast-paced read are not that interesting like the slow burn are. However, dividing the book into two installments would have definitely helped in developing the side characters more but that would have unnecessarily dragged the plot further, making the reader lose interest. Thanks for the review.

This sounds like a fun & enjoying read! :D
This great review has made me highly interested, even more then I already was from reading Amazon's blurb on the book! And this fantasy story I think can be enjoyed by not just teens & young adults, but adults also. (Though honestly/personally, I'm a 38 year old female adult, and I enjoy MANY teen & young adult books! ( ◜‿◝ )♡ I just tend to enjoy so many books labeled YA, but it's not like it's illegal LoL!)
I love the main character is an African-American teenager, bringing diversity into the book and interested to see how this is played out by the author. So many books with super heroes and characters with super powers, are always caucasian and everyone in the story is caucasian. I'm interested in seeing how the author celebrates diversity in the book and hows it played out. I'm also curious if the main character deals with any racism, and if so, how it's dealt with. Basically how the author writes about diversity & racism.
Added the book to my "want to read" list, hoping to purchase in the near future since I'm currently unable to afford it. I really want to read this book in the near future because it sounds like such a great book/read! Amazon's blurb, this review, all reviews on Amazon, and even the sample I've read of the book, are all good and just make me so interested in the book!

The sampler actually hooked me in immediately (I hadn’t yet got the Fantasy vibe from the first few chapters), but I agree with your review and a few comments here that the plot itself doesn’t sound different to a lot other YA Fantasy books out there.

It seems like an easy, mindless read, if the plot was really that straightforward, great for a time waster. I like that there are a colourful cast of characters, though the main character is the main character, which leaves all others as side characters only. I'd like it more, if the other characters were more fleshed out.

The sample of this title was amazing; the diversity of characters early on has my interest entirely. I love that Rion is a person of color and is the lead; this does not often occur with books like these. Thanks for the review! :)

I would havee to agree with your assessment of the secondary characters. Without well developed secondary characters the story doesn't flow well and the characters are difficult to relate to fully.

Indeed the characterization of this book makes the storyline very relatable. Thanks for the review.

This sounds like a really cool and fun story. I've always been into stories where the main character is special and gifted somehow and tries to figure out their gifts. I also like how there is diversity. Great review!

I'm not interested in young adult novels that bring characters with powers like this one. Besides, the fact that the characters are not well developed doesn't attract me. Congrats on BOTD! Thanks for the informative review!

Wow, this looks good. And a Black character written by a Black person! Full support! The book cover definitey caught my attention first. And then I read the plot and it seems like there's something unique about this fantasy world that sets itself apart from others. I love that there's already a pre-existing conflict between the world and the protagonist before he even knew what was going on. It's a good build-up for the story.

A fantastic young adult fiction "The Fourth Kinetic" by Brady Moore, which focuses on Rion Grean, who likes to live in a solitude, but he is endowed with telekinetic abilities. This one looks quite entertaining to me.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.
