Who's Your Favorite Author?

Some may find his writing a bit simplistic, but when I really want to read something and I can't face another chance at reading something crappy or that won't engage me, I return to John Steinbeck. I also really like Robert M. Pirsig though he has only written two books (is he still alive?)

It's a fair while since I have read any Steinbeck, but I think his power is in his simplicity. I will get back to him again one day, for sure.

I have found when my reading is getting to be a chore, like when you read too much non-fiction and such, if I get into a funny piece of fiction you feel like reading again. I recommend "Cannery Row" if you haven't read it, it can be a scream at times.

I have read Cannery Row a very long time ago - I'm sure I would enjoy it again.

I am new here today.

I read so much but currently I am enjoying the books of Jack London. Wow wow wow! I love him. Just read 'Call of the Wild' and just finishing 'White Fang'. I have all his other books downloaded on my Kindle ready to read. At the moment I feel so into wolves and dogs and their behaviour. I am a dog lover but these books simply got into my head so much.

Otherwise I read very widely and I love my Kindle which I had for Christmas.

To this day my fav author is kimharrison...she mixes fantasy, horror, romance all togeather not to mention the different fictional monsters such as werewolves, vampires and witches...i am the first in line when ever she comes out wiht a new book.

That sounds great. It is lovely to find such an author who completely satisfies your need for good stories. I shall look her up as i have never tried that kind of stuff before - about vampires and witches.

Lewis Carrol is a huge favorite of mine. All his poems and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass are my all time favorites.

I have so many but my all time fav is probably Tanya Huff. I love all her books as they are different and always have a good range of interesting LGB characters where the focus is on their personalities not just their sexuality.

Jane Austen holds my vote for all time favorite author. Just love her.

If I want a romance though Kresley Cole is my favorite. I have read every one of her books at least twice, most of them more.
