The book A Beautiful Paradox: My Abandoned Life by Crazy Beautiful is actually the work of author Tera Davis. The book was created as a collection of various texts that the author wrote and shared with her fans on the Internet, in the period from May to December 2014. It is mostly about random thoughts and meaningful quotes in which her fans on social networks recognized a unique love story. The book is the second book in the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone book without any problems.

The pages of the book are filled with the author's thoughts, which usually focus on interpersonal relationships, emotions, health, family, work and everyday life. Reading the book, I got the impression that Tera Davis sees writing as a form of therapy for her ADD, ADHD and OCD. Despite all this, this mother of four, an ex-wife, an ex-girlfriend is very successful as a full-time student of the Dental Assistant Program. This girl trapped in a boy’s mind, also called “Riddle Queen” by her sister, explains Crazy Beautiful by saying that her mind is crazy while her heart is beautiful. An open-ended author can only create open-ended stories, which is the case in this book as well.

What I liked most about A Beautiful Paradox: My Abandoned Life is the wide range of emotions that the author showed and described. Love, admiration, anger, amusement, boredom, excitement, nostalgia have found their place in the pages of this book. The same can be said for fear, joy, sadness, anxiety or empathy. The choice of words that Tera Davis uses contributes to exceptional persuasiveness. That is why, while reading the book, it seemed to me that I was close to the author who was just having an emotional experience. Another characteristic of the book that I really liked is that the author does not agree to compromises in order to be another popular writer. The author, originally from Texas, proudly pointed out that she will not change her writing style for anyone. Immediacy and a casual narrative style are also something I greatly appreciate. After reading the chapter, I felt like I had just chatted with a good friend.

What I didn't like about A Beautiful Paradox: My Abandoned Life is the inconsistency of the author in the narration and the lack of focus. Jumping from topic to topic, which is regular in the book, can be quite tiring. All this can negatively affect the concentration of readers.

With all of the above in mind, the decision on how to rate A Beautiful Paradox: My Abandoned Life was very complex. My final judgment is to rate the book with three out of four stars. The unusual theme and freshness of the idea are something that, in my humble opinion, represent the basic values of a book for which strong concentration is desirable.

I recommend the book primarily to an adult readership with more liberal views. Due to the relatively frequent use of profane words and exceptional openness when it comes to male-female relationships, I think that the book is not intended for younger readers or traditionalists.

You're absolutely right. It is not a pre-planned but a spontaneous action, so the result in the form of the content of the book is somewhat chaotic.

This sounds like an awfully emotional book I do not enjoy disarray in books, so jumping from topic to topic might be a problem to me. You mentioned that the author seems to use writing as a form of therapy, and it just came to my mind that maybe the outcome describes her personality? A person with ADD and ADHD might look very unfocused to others, I think
