Yes! I absolutely think the story would have taken a whole different turn if Riom and his mother had a different relationship. However, the author did a great job adding spice to the story. I feel like if his mom shared things with him from the beginning, the story would have been bland

Yes. I do think if Rion and his mother had been more open and honest with each other things would have turned out different. If his mother had told him about his powers earlier, Rion could be able to adapt well and use his powers. But then, I don't have any idea how the story would have turned out.

I personally think that definitely Rion and his mother should be more open towards each other. They didn't share that sort of healthy conversation which lead to the introvert nature of Rion. If they would discuss every aspect, and their secrets, then it would be much more easy for Rion.

It would make the story easier if Rion and his mother have a common relationship as a family however, it would also end up the spice of the plot. The misunderstanding and secrets between them make the story more interesting therefor I suppose it's still better this way.

It would surely have made things different. It's the secret that kept him away; a secret that she kept for no particular reason and I consider this a gap in the plot. Rion would act totally different with some help from the beginning.

Yes, I believe if Rion and his mother had been opened to each other, things would not have turned out that way. When you are open and honest with your parents, there is trust.

There wouldn't be any story then, would they? The story is built on the premise of the secret. For what it's worth though, I think she just wanted him to live a regular life until he figured it out himself.

Yes, of course! But it could change the story on Rion's relationship with his mom. And I think this what makes the story more interesting. The readers made to be irritated by all of his secrets and how he can tell the truth at the end or not.

The plot would have been entirely different if she told him the truth earlier. But I have noticed that this is a tool many authors like to use. Have one character keep an unnecessary secret from another, then orchestra a grand underwhelming reveal about something that should have been said eons ago.

I also agree with the fact that Dion's mother should have been open with him. The secret phone calls, her mysterious work and so on build up the shroud of mystery covering Rion's life. Therefore, Rion sees no reason why he should let her in on his secret.

I think that Diana did not encourage more open dialogue with Rion because she was afraid. Yes, they could have helped each other, but with Rion’s difficulty in keeping secrets I think that she made the correct decision.

Yes, things could have turned out different; being open to one another could have allowed them to share their concerns and discuss every subtle aspect of their lives. Keeping one another in the dark about their abilities made things even worse, as they were. However, the story could have been totally different.

Rion and his mother being more open with each other would have made a difference. Rion would have understood his powers and accepted himself sooner. He would also have earlier known that there were more people like him; but this would have changed the entire story anyway.

I suppose Rion’s mom felt she was doing the right thing by keeping everything a secret. Rion was afraid to tell his mom about his powers because she was all he had. If she didn’t accept him he would be completely alone. I feel it was wrong of his mom to never tell him anything about his powers though, because he was left to figure it all out alone.

definitely, in any relationship secrets are bound to cause problems eventually, so maybe rion's mom kept secrets from him to protect him, but maybe she went too far, which led him to be secretive about his ability, and finally everything just blew up
