The book Duplicity centers on the McIntyre family. Tom McIntyre the husband of Alison and father to Daniel and Jenny is frustrated of his place in his job and how he spends his income on his children, he thinks that life would be better if it were only him and his wife, Alison. Tom fails to appreciate his family and instead values and wishes to live a luxurious life. Alison dies of cancer leaving both Daniel and Jenny with Tom. The sorrow of losing his wife makes Tom too resolved in taking alcohol that he fails to play a vital role as a father to his children. Daniel later discovered that his father, Tom had once cheated on his mother, Alison. Daniel turned bitter towards his father assuming that he was the cause of his mother death. Daniel distanced his self from his family and started taking drugs until he met Waqar. Waqar is a young Pakistan who lost his family when migrating to India. Daniel falls blindly in love with Waqar and was brainwashed by him to become a Muslim terrorist.

The book Duplicity makes an effort to show the importance of having a family over wealth. Tom McIntyre thought that only money could solve every problem in the world, but when his wife fell sick and died of cancer he realized he was wrong. Duplicity also aimed to show the importance of parental guidance. Tom thought he could replace guiding his children by providing them with whatever they want, and he suffered the consequences dearly. The author Fin C Gray gave an important theme of the dangers of alcohol. Tom McIntyre became an addictive alcohol drinker after the death of his wife which also led to his own death. I love the mysteries and thrills in this book.

The book builds a negative impression on Muslims. If a non-Muslim reads this book, he or she may generalize that all Muslims are like Waqar who manipulated Daniel into believing that he was on the right path, and made him a suicide bomber.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The book Duplicity has a really amazing plot that keeps you interested throughout reading the book and has a good sense of humor. The book is also professionally edited.

This book would suit people who like religion based novels. I would also recommend the book to people who like same gender relationships, Because it centers on same gender love. I won't recommend this book to people who do not like thrillers and mysteries.
