It sounds like the author has packed quite a bit into this 32-page novella. I do hope Lizzy finds a way to address this much-too-common issue. Thank you for your thorough review.

Interesting to see that for a 32 page novella, it has well developed characters. The story seems to be very emotional and disturbing. This coming of age story is suited for adults only.

This is definitely a unique coming of age story. Lizzy's parents chose a non conventional method of explaining sex to her. I'm definitely curious about this story.

Lizzy was actually going to end up that way,it is very unusual for parents to introduce their lads to sex in that manner it is very fatal, nice book I must say for parents and mature youth

Even if I avoid books with sexual stuff in it, I consider this novella as eye-opening. Not many people talk about the reality of how most of them learned about sex early on in life. Thus, I find this book realistic. Thanks for your review.

The premise of the story is a very delicate topic, and I hope that the author properly handles the theme as to not send a harmful message to sexual assault survivors.

It is hard to believe that this is a fictional novella; this type of incident does happen quite often and, at the same time, is not handled appropriately. I have to agree with you on this one; I did not like the ending as it felt incomplete. Thanks for the honest review. :)

I think the position of Lizzy after her parents attitude; that is '' letting lizzy watch the sex scene" will leave Lizzy in only one position and condition: to try it in any chance and situation she find her self in. And now that a clear cut opportunity has present it self through her scandal cousin Joey, I would absolutely love to know how it ends but am guessing it won't end well.

Well, that's certainly not a way I would have chosen to teach my children about sex. If that's all they did, have her watch the bull and heifer, then I would say they were very neglectful parents in this regard. Every child deserves to be taught about this in a loving way. Lizzy's 'lesson' was anything but. I don't know that I will be reading the book, but I hope that Lizzy found someone to talk to who would believe her and help her cope (Stephanies parents perhaps? I can easily see why she didn't want to go to her own parents.) Thanks for the insightful review.

I think this book about a very young girl who had beed abused by a relative is something that is worth of reading since it is also common case among many girls today. The review is great and a good way to understand the theme. But then again, this theme is something that I try not to be engaged with because I have sensitive heart and I woul opt not to read this for the time being! Anyway,Congrats to BOTH!

The book seems to depict the life of a normal girl until her introduction to sexual miseducation. I say miseducation because her parents could have done more in helping Lizzy understand sexual relationships. The method they chose peaked her curiosity and left her open to being 'groomed' by her cousin. Did her mother occupy herself with the church to avoid dealing with reality?

This is sickening. My stomach makes weird roller coaster turns, not in a good way. This review evokes some really concerning thoughts in my mind. For a moment I thought this book will make it's take on sex education but, instead this is almost every girls story. And I am not convinced that throwing their child to watch animal sex was a good idea. In what world a nine year old can understand that completely? Even if not completely, but the main part and the being safe from predators part. After making her watch animal sex, her parents should have talk a little bit about it to let her know that as much as people need to be in line, she needs to be careful as well, and that her parents will always be with her. And I feel that, whatever their intention was, their action didn't match with it.

I like the fact that Lizzy's parents didn't hide anything from her, rather they wanted her to know about sex by letting her see the bull sex. This book is recommended for adults. Inspite of its abrupt end I would like to read it. Thank you for the review

Honestly, reading this novella made me uncomfortable. The descriptions of the author were so vivid that the scene where Lizzy was being coerced by her cousin Joey that it made me sick. The reason for my apparent revulsion is simple. These kind of things still happen in real life which is why I commend the author for tackling this complicated issue even though it's hard. Congrats on BOTD!

Great review. I fell in love with Liz’s character when I read about her plans for the ninja racetrack. The author has brilliantly captured her innocence, despair, and her bravery. I hope there is a part two for this novella.
