The book Blockhead by Kyle J.S. Bardell is a story that revolves around a girl named after a ranch Bronco. The book relates her early experience growing up in the ranch, after which she was sent to the capital, the Golden Generation where she is to be trained to become a leader and uphold the society's standards. After passing several tests she was assigned to be a scribe. In the process of doing her job, as a scribe she found her back to Bronco ranch, but things are not the same there, she is charged to find her once governors.

The author had a personal connection with the things that he wrote in the book. The book was born out of an experience that he had in college with his friends, "people he thought had his best interest at heart" but later betrayed him. From the place of experience came the inspiration to construct this beautiful piece. It offers amazing insight to the reader and sets a tone of emotion in the book, one could easily feel the way he felt, reading this book.

What I love most about the book is how detailed and graphic the descriptions are. He described in detail the actions, looks, actions and scenery. For example, She wasted no time unlatching the front gate instead of hopping it as she approached. The first sun was high in the sky, meaning Rue would have prepared lunch on the front porch. ShBye could smell the potent pot of stew Rue had warmed for the family. As she ran, Bronco stepped high to avoid any moist spots causing her to sink into the ground. There was no dust to kick up and no puddles on the ground, just unmanicured grass. The porch was empty with no rocking chair. Lunch could have moved to the kitchen because of the cool weather extending into the day." Detailed descriptions like this made it mentally picture the events and scenarios.

I love how few the characters in the book are. The author did not include many characters in the book to make the book big and fluffy. Many characters often clog the storyline, often creating unnecessary dialogues and steering the conversation off course. But the author created few characters and it easy to follow

Usually too dialogue in a book creates a lot of repetition and results in being read. But I love how skillfully the author used dialogue, in a way to expose information and incite the interests of the reader.

The plot of the story is not very common, there's a unique taste that the storyline possessed. The unpredictability of the plot created a sense of suspense in the book. The twists and turns created by the uniqueness of the plot made it a fun and enjoyable read for me.

The book was professionally edited, I found only one error in the book. I'd give it a four out of four stars. I'd recommend it to fantasy book lovers with a combination of science fiction.
