Review of Rise of the Savior
The novel Rise of the Savior by Antoine Bonner is the story of an eighteen years old young woman called Amanda who finds her self thrown into the world of ancient deities. A world that has been hidden from the human eye. She finds herself with the title of an acolyte of truth, the saviour of the world and is thrown into a world of violence, forced to fight back inorder to protect her sister who has been targeted by an acolyte of death named Jamie Connor who is on a killing rampant inorder to save his own son.
What I liked about the book was how easily I got lost in it. The author started the book a little bit off in the beginning but, the more I read the more engaged I was. I could not even put it down. The book is something new, something fresh and I have never come across a fantasy novel with the same concept as this one. I loved that. It's refreshing to read something that probably has never been written before. This is also something straight out of the television. The author was spot on when they described that someone who loves anime would love this. I felt like I was watching a movie. I would definitely recommend this book.
What I did not like about the book is the fact that all the names of the characters start with similar letters and some even the same pronunciation. That was so confusing. It was hard for me to distinguish the characters in the beginning. I also failed to understand their relationships and connections. It is annoying for the reader because they constantly have to go back and forth trying to figure out the character in question. What I also do not like about the book is that there are too many plot holes. Firstly the author introduces too many things in one chapter. Secondly the author is quickly moving from one scene to another while the other scene is still hanging. It's very confusing and overwhelming when one is trying to take in one scene and then there is a sudden shift. There is definitely a lack of transition from one scene to the next.
I am giving the book a rating of 2 out of 4 stars , because I feel like the book is not professionally edited. There is hardly any errors but, the book is full of unnecessary words and also the fact that there is poor transition from one scene to the next. I feel like the author should also have cut off some words and should have used more of the show than tell method when writing the book. However the book is intriguing it's nothing that I have read before and I like how good different it is. That alone made me set it a tad bit above the rest. It deserves to be shared to the world.
I would recommend this book for people who love to watch anime and also for people who are from the ages of sixteen and above. There is only one error in the book.
