Review of Chasing A Flawed Sun
This is a true story based on the life of the author himself, Daniel McGhee.Barely twelve years old of age Danny found himself in the company of bad influence who introduced him to cigarette smoking which later became "the tobbaco club" and selling acid based drug in the school premises. He succumbed to this kind of juvenile deliquence due to low self esteem,as he concluded that his peers were a lot cooler than he was because they had already developed pubic hair and could also charm girls. For him to stay afloat and relevant with the pack he had to come up with a lot of mischievous schemes such as, stealing and spray painting curse words in the public domains.
It was not long before the party got crushed by the police who bust the whole crew for selling drugs during school hours on the premises. This marked the beginning of Danny's eventful life,as he grew so much fond of becoming as tough as his best friend Chris and other fellows.Soon enough during and after being suspended from school numerous times he landed himself on alcohol which simingly gave him the toughness he always aspired and could also get read of remorse of the aftermath.Along the pipeline of parties, stealing, and selling drugs,he found himself in the city of Baltimore coping heroin.ls he going to only sale it or he is eventually going to be a full blown addict?Do your self justice and work your way inside these pages to acquaint yourself.
Chasing the flawed sun.is an eventful story that opens your mind towards drug addicts, especially the way Daniel McGhee painted the occurrences with a vivid picture which gives the reader a panoramic imagination within the mind.At one time in the book l got involved directly emotionally when he almost got his family banned from ever going to there traditional summer camp ever again which goes way back even before he was conceived. The way that got Danny lured into this rat race life that he eventually got sunk into was so so dramatic and annoying yet adventurous. He end up meeting people like Sabrina who would open a door for him to know a lot about the black culture and crack cocaine.
I Love this book chasing the flawed sun because it was written in plain, simple and straight forward English. The projection of everything that took place in the life of Daniel McGhee, whether overdose or making out with Jessie it all intermingled in a beautiful way.He used the street language as it was and brought to life the every day hustle in the projects especially when he explains their day to day life of violence, mugging criminal and overdosing and alnight drinking and partying. The author tries by all means possible to draw a reader much closer to the suffering of a junkie when he/she is craving for that small heroin pill inside there veins. You can almost feel like it is alright to cop until he starts to shine the light on how the grip of a drug can land you in almost every criminal act-like himself who would rather spend many months in prison just for steeling less than $200 worth of goods in a 7-eleven shop.We can not even start on how many times he overdosed and relapses.l enjoyed my reading and l could not get enough of this life lesson book.
Chasing the flawed sun indeed l have explicitly found nothing negative about this except that it finishes abruptly when l needed more pages to go.Since l found nothing wrong with this book therefore l rate it4 out of 4
I would recommend this book to those who have relatives or family members who are addicted to drugs to read it.
